The Wisdom Of Solomon

Proverbs 12:28(KJV): "In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death."
Proverbs 13:1(KJV): "A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke."

Thoughts for the Day

Many of the verses in the book of Proverbs show the cause and effect of our actions. According to these verses, righteousness brings life, while the scorner's actions will lead to death because he will not listen to wisdom. Righteousness is found only in Christ. When we follow Christ and His teachings outlined in the Word of God, we will be walking in the way of life. Verse 28 is not just referring to life (as being born and living in the earth) and death, as dying (a physical death); but is also referring to the life and death principals. By this I mean anything that leads to an abundant life is a life principal, while anything that leads to death is a death principal. For example if we become sick, certain illnesses can lead to death, therefore sickness is part of the death principal. Depression can lead to mental illness which is also part of the death principal. In fact, there are a lot of words that begin with the letter "D" that are associated with the death principal: discouragement, disease, disappointment, disillusionment, despondency, doubt and despair, to name a few. Curiously enough, the one who is behind the "Deadly D's" is the devil himself and his name begins with a "D." The devil's plan is to bring destruction to mankind.

On the other hand, there are things that we can do that produce life. For instance when we praise God, it will drive depression from us. When we pray in faith, discouragement will lift. When we quote the healing scriptures in faith, sickness will leave. When we sing and worship God, our hearts will be filled with joy. Jesus promised us abundant life. If we are not experiencing that life, we need to totally commit to God, and ask the Lord to fill us with the Holy Spirit so that we might walk in the spirit, and receive all that the Lord has for us.

John 10:10: "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Proverbs 13:1 tells us that if we are wise, we will obey our father's instructions. A rebellious son will not accept any correction from his father, which can be his downfall. In the church we should also obey and receive the church father's instructions that are based on the Word of God. God's Words bring life to us. When we heed them they will produce a blessing. The Bible says that when we put God's Words of life into our hearts, it will produce blessings of health and long life. In computer language we understand the expression, GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out). If we put the garbage of evil things in our spirits, that is what will come out; especially when we are under pressure. What is in our hearts (our spirits) will surface and come out of our mouths. Rebellion toward our parents and/or authorities reveals that we have a heart problem. One of the Ten Commandments tells us that if we want a happy and long life, we must honor and respect our parents.

Deuteronomy 5:16: "Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."

Those who refuse correction will never be able to overcome the problems in their lives. When they refuse the things that will bring them life, they are left to reap the results of the bad things they are sowing. The Lord wants all of His children to be blessed; however, we cannot receive those blessings if we insist on our own way. If we refuse to obey the Lord, we will eventually end up in a place that we will not be happy about. For the sinner without Christ, that place is hell. For rebellious Christians, disobedience creates a type of hell in this life, the loss of fellowship with God. This is just one of the losses that occurs. Since the devil is a robber and thief, he will take advantage of a backslidden Christian and begin to rob them of anything that he can. There is only one safe place in this world for any of us, and that place is in the center of God's will. If we are out of the will of God, we become a target of the devil and we must remember, that he is a killer and he is out to destroy us. Let us walk in path of life, not death.

Prayer for the Day

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You, as always, for Your abundant blessings. I may never know until I reach heaven how many times You have had Your angels protect me from the wicked one. I do appreciate You watching over me and my loved ones. Lord, I pray this day for all of the backsliders. Lord, draw them back to Yourself. Forgive them and be merciful to them. Thank You, that Your mercy endureth for ever. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Lord, thank you for correcting me when I have missed You in some way. I do want to stay on the path of life. Keep Your children in the path of holiness and righteousness. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

You Are Psalms

1 Don't give glory to us, O Lord. Don't give glory to us. Instead, give glory to your name because of your mercy and faithfulness.
2 Why should other nations say, “Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven. He does whatever he wants.
4 Their idols are made of silver and gold. They were made by human hands.[1]Psalm 115:4-8 are virtually identical in wording to Psalm 135:15-18.
5 They have mouths, but they cannot speak. They have eyes, but they cannot see.
6 They have ears, but they cannot hear. They have noses, but they cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but they cannot feel. They have feet, but they cannot walk. They cannot {even} make a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make idols end up like them. So does everyone who trusts them.

9 Israel, trust the Lord. He is your helper and your shield.
10 Descendants of Aaron, trust the Lord. He is your helper and your shield.
11 If you fear the Lord, trust the Lord. He is your helper and your shield.

12 The Lord, who is {always} thinking about us, will bless us. He will bless the descendants of Israel. He will bless the descendants of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, from the least important to the most important.
14 May the Lord continue to bless you and your children.
15 You will be blessed by the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
16 The highest heaven belongs to the Lord, but he has given the earth to the descendants of Adam.
17 Those who are dead do not praise the Lord, nor do those who go into the silence {of the grave}.
18.But we will thank the Lord now and forever.
Hallelujah!

The Big Picture: BY TRUSTING IN HIM AND PRAISING HIM. 115:9-18

It is folly to trust in dead images, but it is wisdom to trust in the living God, for he is a help and a shield to those that trust in him. Wherever there is right fear of God, there may be cheerful faith in him; those who reverence his word, may rely upon it. He is ever found faithful. The greatest need his blessing, and it shall not be denied to the meanest that fear him. God's blessing gives an increase, especially in spiritual blessings. And the Lord is to be praised: his goodness is large, for he has given the earth to the children of men for their use. The souls of the faithful, after they are delivered from the burdens of the flesh, are still praising him; but the dead body cannot praise God: death puts an end to our glorifying him in this world of trial and conflict. Others are dead, and an end is thereby put to their service, therefore we will seek to do the more for God. We will not only do it ourselves, but will engage others to do it; to praise him when we are gone. Lord, thou art the only object for faith and love. Help us to praise thee while living and when dying, that thy name may be the first and last upon our lips: and let the sweet savour of thy name refresh our souls for ever.

Morning Verse

"He was numbered with the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12

Why did Jesus suffer Himself to be enrolled amongst sinners? This wonderful condescension was justified by many powerful reasons. In such a character He could the better become their advocate. In some trials there is an identification of the counsellor with the client, nor can they be looked upon in the eye of the law as apart from one another. Now, when the sinner is brought to the bar, Jesus appears there Himself. He stands to answer the accusation. He points to His side, His hands, His feet, and challenges Justice to bring anything against the sinners whom He represents; He pleads His blood, and pleads so triumphantly, being numbered with them and having a part with them, that the Judge proclaims, "Let them go their way; deliver them from going down into the pit, for He hath found a ransom." Our Lord Jesus was numbered with the transgressors in order that they might feel their hearts drawn towards Him. Who can be afraid of one who is written in the same list with us? Surely we may come boldly to Him, and confess our guilt. He who is numbered with us cannot condemn us. Was He not put down in the transgressor's list that we might be written in the red roll of the saints? He was holy, and written among the holy; we were guilty, and numbered among the guilty; He transfers His name from yonder list to this black indictment, and our names are taken from the indictment and written in the roll of acceptance, for there is a complete transfer made between Jesus and His people. All our estate of misery and sin Jesus has taken; and all that Jesus has comes to us. His righteousness, His blood, and everything that He hath He gives us as our dowry. Rejoice, believer, in your union to Him who was numbered among the transgressors; and prove that you are truly saved by being manifestly numbered with those who are new creatures in Him.

Evening Verse

"Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord." Lamentations 3:40

The spouse who fondly loves her absent husband longs for his return; a long protracted separation from her lord is a semi-death to her spirit: and so with souls who love the Saviour much, they must see His face, they cannot bear that He should be away upon the mountains of Bether, and no more hold communion with them. A reproaching glance, an uplifted finger will be grievous to loving children, who fear to offend their tender father, and are only happy in his smile. Beloved, it was so once with you. A text of Scripture, a threatening, a touch of the rod of affliction, and you went to your Father's feet, crying, "Show me wherefore Thou contendest with me?" Is it so now? Are you content to follow Jesus afar off? Can you contemplate suspended communion with Christ without alarm? Can you bear to have your Beloved walking contrary to you, because you walk contrary to Him? Have your sins separated between you and your God, and is your heart at rest? O let me affectionately warn you, for it is a grievous thing when we can live contentedly without the present enjoyment of the Saviour's face. Let us labour to feel what an evil thing this is--little love to our own dying Saviour, little joy in our precious Jesus, little fellowship with the Beloved! Hold a true Lent in your souls, while you sorrow over your hardness of heart. Do not stop at sorrow! Remember where you first received salvation. Go at once to the cross. There, and there only, can you get your spirit quickened. No matter how hard, how insensible, how dead we may have become, let us go again in all the rags and poverty, and defilement of our natural condition. Let us clasp that cross, let us look into those languid eyes, let us bathe in that fountain filled with blood--this will bring back to us our first love; this will restore the simplicity of our faith, and the tenderness of our heart.

The Big Picture:

HUMILIATION, AND EXALTATION OF CHRIST, ARE MINUTELY DESCRIBED; WITH THE BLESSINGS TO MANKIND FROM HIS DEATH. 53:10-12

Come, and see how Christ loved us! We could not put him in our stead, but he put himself. Thus he took away the sin of the world, by taking it on himself. He made himself subject to death, which to us is the wages of sin. Observe the graces and glories of his state of exaltation. Christ will not commit the care of his family to any other. God's purposes shall take effect. And whatever is undertaken according to God's pleasure shall prosper. He shall see it accomplished in the conversion and salvation of sinners. There are many whom Christ justifies, even as many as he gave his life a ransom for. By faith we are justified; thus God is most glorified, free grace most advanced, self most abased, and our happiness secured. We must know him, and believe in him, as one that bore our sins, and saved us from sinking under the load, by taking it upon himself. Sin and Satan, death and hell, the world and the flesh, are the strong foes he has vanquished. What God designed for the Redeemer he shall certainly possess. When he led captivity captive, he received gifts for men, that he might give gifts to men. While we survey the sufferings of the Son of God, let us remember our long catalogue of transgressions, and consider him as suffering under the load of our guilt. Here is laid a firm foundation for the trembling sinner to rest his soul upon. We are the purchase of his blood, and the monuments of his grace; for this he continually pleads and prevails, destroying the works of the devil.

TURNING TO GOD IN PRAYER. 3:37-41

While there is life there is hope; and instead of complaining that things are bad, we should encourage ourselves with the hope they will be better. We are sinful men, and what we complain of, is far less than our sins deserve. We should complain to God, and not of him. We are apt, in times of calamity, to reflect on other people's ways, and blame them; but our duty is to search and try our own ways, that we may turn from evil to God. Our hearts must go with our prayers. If inward impressions do not answer to outward expressions, we mock God, and deceive ourselves.

The Wisdom Of Solomon

Proverbs 12:25-26(KJV):
25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Thoughts for the Day

In the book of Proverbs these scriptures show us how goodness affects others in a positive way. Wickedness always leads to destruction, while righteousness edifies and builds up. Verse 25 gives us instruction on how to help someone who is depressed by giving them an encouraging word. Many people today are "stooped down" with the weight of the world on them. As Christians, we should not be numbered in that lot. We should ask God daily to fill us with His love and joy so that we rise above whatever pressures we feel from our circumstances. We can always give others a lift if we are walking in the spirit, as we will have the Lord's love and strength. Just smiling at people and giving them a kind word can make a difference in someone's life. I recall an incidence when I was checking out in a grocery store line, and I simply thanked the clerk and said, "God bless you and have a good day." Tears came to her eyes and she replied, "Thank you so much, that is the nicest thing that anybody has said to me all day." We may never know how a simple and loving word makes someone glad, just as this scripture says.

Verse 26 tells us that the consistently righteous man will live his life in such a way that he will be a good example to his neighbor, and by his actions he will be able to guide his neighbor. On the other hand, the wicked man through his evil actions of seduction will cause others to go astray. Some neighborhoods will have one family that causes trouble for the rest of the people that live there. Many times they are trouble makers and try to stir up strife between the other neighbors over something they do not like. We must pray for these kind of people and reach out and try to overcome evil with good. We can have a positive influence with Christ's help in our neighborhoods that can change the whole atmosphere of our community.

As Christians, we should not shirk our civil duties. Some Christians seem to think that we should not be a part of the world, so they never become involved in any political or civic activities. If every Christian followed this reasoning it would leave the government and administrative jobs open for only sinners and immoral people to rule in our governments. This is not what the Lord meant when he told us to separate ourselves from the world. Scripture is telling us that we are to separate from our worldly and unclean ways and that we are not to do the sinful things that those in this world practice.

2 Corinthians 6:17-18: "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."

We are called to be "salt" and "light" in the world. Salt causes food to taste better. It is also used as a preservative. When mixed with water it is a saline solution used for cleansing purposes. Salt also causes us to thirst so that we drink more water. It is essential to the human body (in the correct amount). You can see the analogy here. True Christians will cause this world to have a better taste. Our Christian presence preserves this world and keeps it from completely rotting. Our prayers are like water bringing cleansing to needed areas. A true Christian witness will cause those who do not know Christ to become thirsty and want to know more about our Lord. As Christians, we must share the words of the Bible as they are essential for this world to continue. Without the Word of God and His presence this world would be a total hell.

Matthew 5:13-16:
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We do not want to be the kind of salt that is no longer salty, as that kind of Christian witness is worthless. We are called to be the light in this dark world. If we are like the city on the hill, our witness cannot be hidden. The Bible says, "...if I (Jesus) be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." If we lift up Jesus, people will be drawn unto Him. Our light shines by the good deeds that we do. We must not be Christians who just "talk the talk" but rather we must "walk the walk." This is how we shall bring glory to our Father in heaven.

John 12:32-36:
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.

Prayer for the Day

Dear Heavenly Father, I do appreciate You, and I want my life to glorify you. Fill me today with Your Holy Spirit so that I might bring encouraging words to others. Father, I have been down at times in my life and I am so grateful for my brothers and sisters in the Lord who came to me with faith and encouragement. They lifted me up, and today I want to lift them up. You know each of them and exactly what they are going through at this time. Bless them and encourage them and meet their needs even as You used them to meet my needs in the trying times of my life. May we all be good witnesses for You and never lose our saltiness. Lord, shine on us that we may reflect Your glory. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

1O GOD of my praise! Keep not silence,

2For the mouths of the wicked and the mouth of deceit are opened against me; they have spoken to me and against me with lying tongues.

3They have compassed me about also with words of hatred and have fought against me without a cause.

4In return for my love they are my adversaries, but I resort to prayer.

5And they have rewarded and laid upon me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

6Set a wicked man over him [as a judge], and let [a malicious] accuser stand at his right hand.

7When [the wicked] is judged, let him be condemned, and let his prayer [for leniency] be turned into a sin.

8Let his days be few; and let another take his office and charge.

9Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.

10Let his children be continual vagabonds [as was Cain] and beg; let them seek their bread and be driven far from their ruined homes.

11Let the creditor and extortioner seize all that he has; and let strangers (barbarians and foreigners) plunder the fruits of his labor.

12Let there be none to extend or continue mercy and kindness to him, neither let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.

13Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their names be blotted out.

14Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

15Let them be before the Lord continually, that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth!--

16Because the man did not [earnestly] remember to show mercy, but pursued and persecuted the poor and needy man, and the broken in heart [he was ready] to slay.

17Yes, he loved cursing, and it came [back] upon him; he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him.

18He clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment, and it seeped into his inward [life] like water, and like oil into his bones.

19Let it be to him as the raiment with which he covers himself and as the girdle with which he is girded continually.

20Let this be the reward of my adversaries from the Lord, and of those who speak evil against my life.

21But You deal with me and act for me, O God the Lord, for Your name's sake; because Your mercy and loving-kindness are good, O deliver me.

22For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded and stricken within me.

23I am gone like the shadow when it lengthens and declines; I toss up and down and am shaken off as the locust.

24My knees are weak and totter from fasting; and my body is gaunt and has no fatness.

25I have become also a reproach and a taunt to others; when they see me, they shake their heads.

26Help me, O Lord my God; O save me according to Your mercy and loving-kindness!--

27That they may know that this is Your hand, that You, Lord, have done it.

28Let them curse, but do You bless. When adversaries arise, let them be put to shame, but let Your servant rejoice.

29Let my adversaries be clothed with shame and dishonor, and let them cover themselves with their own disgrace and confusion as with a robe.

30I will give great praise and thanks to the Lord with my mouth; yes, and I will praise Him among the multitude.

31For He will stand at the right hand of the poor and needy, to save him from those who condemn his life.

The Big Picture:

DAVID COMPLAINS OF HIS ENEMIES. 109:1-5

It is the unspeakable comfort of all believers, that whoever is against them, God is for them; and to him they may apply as to one pleased to concern himself for them. David's enemies laughed at him for his devotion, but they could not laugh him out of it. David's enemies laughed at him for his devotion, but they could not laugh him out of it.

HE PROPHESIES THEIR DESTRUCTION. 109:6-20

The Lord Jesus may speak here as a Judge, denouncing sentence on some of his enemies, to warn others. When men reject the salvation of Christ, even their prayers are numbered among their sins. See what hurries some to shameful deaths, and brings the families and estates of others to ruin; makes them and theirs despicable and hateful, and brings poverty, shame, and misery upon their posterity: it is sin, that mischievous, destructive thing. And what will be the effect of the sentence, "Go, ye cursed," upon the bodies and souls of the wicked! How it will affect the senses of the body, and the powers of the soul, with pain, anguish, horror, and despair! Think on these things, sinners, tremble and repent.

PRAYERS AND PRAISES. 109:21-31

The psalmist takes God's comforts to himself, but in a very humble manner. He was troubled in mind. His body was wasted, and almost worn away. But it is better to have leanness in the body, while the soul prospers and is in health, than to have leanness in the soul, while the body is feasted. He was ridiculed and reproached by his enemies. But if God bless us, we need not care who curses us; for how can they curse whom God has not cursed; nay, whom he has blessed? He pleads God's glory, and the honour of his name. Save me, not according to my merit, for I pretend to none, but according to thy-mercy. He concludes with the joy of faith, in assurance that his present conflicts would end in triumphs. Let all that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him. Jesus, unjustly put to death, and now risen again, is an Advocate and Intercessor for his people, ever ready to appear on their behalf against a corrupt world, and the great accuser.

The Bottomline: We all know what it is like to be condemned by others = sometimes unjustly. Sometimes we are attcked by all of those very painful memories of the abuse that we had suffered by the hands of others. It is then we need to turn to God for our relief He will fill our hearts with His love and help us to forgive those who speak hateful words against us. We can rest in him and do our best to love those whom hurt us. It takes great humility to entrust our lives to God. One of the most difficult parts as children of God is to fully admit our own helplesness if we truly to be overcomers in one's own personal dependancy alone. We have discovered what happens to us by doing things on our own way. We become enslaved to our own desire and appetites. Dependeance on God and His program, is the only road to freedom. We alway's need to remember, however, that alhough God calls us to be childlike in our spirit, he does Not want us to be childish in one's behavior. We need to know or realize that we ought to have a deep pentrating devotion unto God to bring us through everything in our lives in the intimacy to see us through it in our life with integrityin one's covenant unto God. For our God is unshakable in our foundation simply states that Our Gos is the author both of this world and His Word as do stand accountable unto the Lord in our very lives that Never changes. His Holy Spirit is what keeps everyone in check in what we do or do not do in our life. We have an appreciation of the Lord in all things with peace and joy unto Him as we walk it with the Lord and then unto others to help them find the true way of life.

Morning & Evening Devotionals

Morning Verse

"The love of Christ which passeth knowledge." Ephesians 3:19

The love of Christ in its sweetness, its fulness, its greatness, its faithfulness, passeth all human comprehension. Where shall language be found which shall describe His matchless, His unparalleled love towards the children of men? It is so vast and boundless that, as the swallow but skimmeth the water, and diveth not into its depths, so all descriptive words but touch the surface, while depths immeasurable lie beneath. Well might the poet say,

"O love, thou fathomless abyss!"

for this love of Christ is indeed measureless and fathomless; none can attain unto it. Before we can have any right idea of the love of Jesus, we must understand His previous glory in its height of majesty, and His incarnation upon the earth in all its depths of shame. But who can tell us the majesty of Christ? When He was enthroned in the highest heavens He was very God of very God; by Him were the heavens made, and all the hosts thereof. His own almighty arm upheld the spheres; the praises of cherubim and seraphim perpetually surrounded Him; the full chorus of the hallelujahs of the universe unceasingly flowed to the foot of his throne: He reigned supreme above all His creatures, God over all, blessed for ever. Who can tell His height of glory then? And who, on the other hand, can tell how low He descended? To be a man was something, to be a man of sorrows was far more; to bleed, and die, and suffer, these were much for Him who was the Son of God; but to suffer such unparalleled agony--to endure a death of shame and desertion by His Father, this is a depth of condescending love which the most inspired mind must utterly fail to fathom. Herein is love! and truly it is love that "passeth knowledge." O let this love fill our hearts with adoring gratitude, and lead us to practical manifestations of its power.

Evening Verse

"I will accept you with your sweet savour." Ezekiel 20:41

The merits of our great Redeemer are as sweet savour to the Most High. Whether we speak of the active or passive righteousness of Christ, there is an equal fragrance. There was a sweet savour in His active life by which He honoured the law of God, and made every precept to glitter like a precious jewel in the pure setting of His own person. Such, too, was His passive obedience, when He endured with unmurmuring submission, hunger and thirst, cold and nakedness, and at length sweat great drops of blood in Gethsemane, gave His back to the smiters, and His cheeks to them that plucked out the hair, and was fastened to the cruel wood, that He might suffer the wrath of God in our behalf. These two things are sweet before the Most High; and for the sake of His doing and His dying, His substitutionary sufferings and His vicarious obedience, the Lord our God accepts us. What a preciousness must there be in Him to overcome our want of preciousness! What a sweet savour to put away our ill savour! What a cleansing power in His blood to take away sin such as ours! and what glory in His righteousness to make such unacceptable creatures to be accepted in the Beloved! Mark, believer, how sure and unchanging must be our acceptance, since it is in Him! Take care that you never doubt your acceptance in Jesus. You cannot be accepted without Christ; but, when you have received His merit, you cannot be unaccepted. Notwithstanding all your doubts, and fears, and sins, Jehovah's gracious eye never looks upon you in anger; though He sees sin in you, in yourself, yet when He looks at you through Christ, He sees no sin. You are always accepted in Christ, are always blessed and dear to the Father's heart. Therefore lift up a song, and as you see the smoking incense of the merit of the Saviour coming up, this evening, before the sapphire throne, let the incense of your praise go up also.

The Big Picture and the Bottomline:

HE PRAYS FOR THE EPHESIANS. 3:13-19

The apostle seems to be more anxious lest the believers should be discouraged and faint upon his tribulations, than for what he himself had to bear. He asks for spiritual blessings, which are the best blessings. Strength from the Spirit of God in the inner man; strength in the soul; the strength of faith, to serve God, and to do our duty. If the law of Christ is written in our hearts, and the love of Christ is shed abroad there, then Christ dwells there. Where his Spirit dwells, there he dwells. We should desire that good affections may be fixed in us. And how desirable to have a fixed sense of the love of God in Christ to our souls! How powerfully the apostle speaks of the love of Christ! The breadth shows its extent to all nations and ranks; the length, that it continues from everlasting to everlasting; the depth, its saving those who are sunk into the depths of sin and misery; the height, its raising them up to heavenly happiness and glory. Those who receive grace for grace from Christ's fulness, may be said to be filled with the fulness of God. Should not this satisfy man? Must he needs fill himself with a thousand trifles, fancying thereby to complete his happiness?

GOD PROMISES TO PARDON AND RESTORE THEM. 20:33-44

The wicked Israelites, notwithstanding they follow the sinful ways of other nations, shall not mingle with them in their prosperity, but shall be separated from them for destruction. There is no shaking off God's dominion; and those who will not yield to the power of his grace, shall sink under the power of his wrath. But not one of God's jewels shall be lost in the lumber of this world. He will bring the jews to the land of Israel again; and will give them true repentance. They will be overcome with his kindness: the more we know of God's holiness, the more we see the hateful nature of sin. Those who remain unaffected amidst means of grace, and would live without Christ, like the world around them, may be sure it is the way to destruction.

The Bottomline: God fully accepts us through one's "faith" It just "don't" matter race we are or our own individual reputations we might have in our lives, or what positions we hold in our life in the society, or superiority whether it be at work or on our jobs, titles, or shepard of any head of any church, in any kind of relationship we think we may have in Jesus Christ in knowing the divided Holy Scriptures it just has "No" bearing on God's forgivness often times enough we have to either get some encouragement or get that encouragement for God in His word in one's own personal study time and being prayfully as we do it. God will forgives us either in the things we've done or forgot to do. Something at one time had literally destroyed our reputation that we had commanded not only in our own life but other's that had been in and around our life as well. It's all a matter of "trust" in having the forgivness that had taken us "hostage"in being confident and being grounded by the word of God in knowing he will accept us just as we are at that moment. But it just don't matter to Jesus Christ in all of those things at all! All that matters to Him is that He loved us enough for what He did in our place on that wonderful " Cross of Calvery" to become whole and which it brings total freedom in our lives. He has an unique "Purpose" for our very own life to fulfill in us to bring all other's to come to know Him in a very deep personal realtionship. As we have such a dymanic unlimited love in Jesus Christ in being anchored and firmly rooted in God's soil. We move effectively in the Lord in being confident in Him that Jesus Christ is able to do far more than we could ever imagine through us by the Holy Spirit as He take us through all things in our life.He gives us His truths through the Bible as He speaks unto us in our study time daily as we search and pray daily, going to our home churches as He shows us through our "Shepard" guiding our lives on a weekly basis, Bible study time in our church as well. God gives and bring that wonderful "restoration" that overflows our lives that's beyond words. Only the Holy Spirit know such truths that comes forth as we utter things unto Him that helps us move in Him in our life. We alway's rememer to " Do" it God's way as He leads un to many victories in our future in one day heading home in the "New Jerusalem" as our home of Glory.

The Wisdom Of Solomon

Proverbs 12:20-22(KJV):
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

Thoughts for the Day

These verses in the book of Proverbs clearly show us the pattern of deceit versus truth. Notice that the first half of verse 20 points out that in the heart of an evil man is deceit. Deceit is all too prevalent today in our society. Webster's Dictionary gives us the following definition of the word deceit: 1.The act of representing as true what is known to be false; a deceiving or lying 2. a dishonest action or trick; fraud or lie. People who use deceit have a wicked heart and evil imaginings. There are many fraudulent schemes today that are robbing people of their money. The Bible says, “You must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.” (1 Corinthians 5:11). Swindlers take advantage of other people's weaknesses to make money for themselves. Greedy people are motivated by a desire for personal gain at others' expense. Covetousness is a form of idolatry (Colossians 3:5). We should flee such unrighteousness.

“Those who do not work should not eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10). The desire to make money without working for it is an unrighteous desire. People who use schemes to take advantage of others are using a form of deceit. God uses work to build and shape our character. He delights in providing for those who put His Kingdom and His Righteousness first. God's Kingdom is not promoted by unrighteousness. It is promoted through the loving sacrifice of those who are obedient to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The last half of Proverbs 12:20 tells us that those who promote peace shall have joy. The Lord tells us in verse 9 of the "Beatitudes" listed in Matthew 5, " Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." We are blessed when we pursue peace and counsel others to walk in peace.

Verse 21 in Proverbs 12 tells us that ultimately no evil or misfortune or calamity shall come upon the righteous, while the wicked will be filled with evil, misfortune and calamity. Looking at this verse you might think it is not true, as perhaps, you or other Christians you know, have gone through some evil, misfortune or calamity in this world. In this world, we may suffer some of the things that people who do not know the Lord suffer; however, the difference is that we go through them, but we are not destroyed by them. Our eternal state in Christ causes us to overcome all evil that the devil may try to bring our way. We are more than conquerors through our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 16:33: "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Isaiah 54:17a: "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper..."

Romans 8:37-39: "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The fate of the wicked is different, as their own wicked deeds bring them down. They are ultimately destroyed in this life and face hell in the life to come. The wicked are filled with mischief and deceit. Verse 22 says that the lying lips of the wicked are extremely disgusting and hateful to the Lord, but those that deal truly are His delight. In fact, lying is in the list of the six things that God hates (Proverbs 6:17). Since God cannot lie and hates lying, we should guard against this sin too.

Prayer for the Day

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love and goodness to me. You have been very patient and merciful to me. Lord, I need that same love and mercy towards others. Father, I ask You to remove all deceit from my heart and cleanse me so that I might have a pure heart before You. Lord, deliver our nation of deceit and lying. Help us all to keep our word, when we give it to someone. Restore truth to our land. We desire truth to abide in our homes and our businesses. Lord, I also ask that You give me faith and an overcoming spirit so that I will not walk in fear. Help me to trust You, even when my circumstances cause me doubt at times. Deliver me from doubt and unbelief in every area of my life. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Morning & Evening Devotionals

Morning Verse

"Jesus said unto them, If ye seek Me, let these go their way." John 18:8

Mark, my soul, the care which Jesus manifested even in His hour of trial, towards the sheep of His hand! The ruling passion is strong in death. He resigns Himself to the enemy, but He interposes a word of power to set His disciples free. As to Himself, like a sheep before her shearers He is dumb and opened not His mouth, but for His disciples' sake He speaks with Almighty energy. Herein is love, constant, self-forgetting, faithful love. But is there not far more here than is to be found upon the surface? Have we not the very soul and spirit of the atonement in these words? The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep, and pleads that they must therefore go free. The Surety is bound, and justice demands that those for whom He stands a substitute should go their way. In the midst of Egypt's bondage, that voice rings as a word of power, "Let these go their way." Out of slavery of sin and Satan the redeemed must come. In every cell of the dungeons of Despair, the sound is echoed, "Let these go their way," and forth come Despondency and Much-afraid. Satan hears the well-known voice, and lifts his foot from the neck of the fallen; and Death hears it, and the grave opens her gates to let the dead arise. Their way is one of progress, holiness, triumph, glory, and none shall dare to stay them in it. No lion shall be on their way, neither shall any ravenous beast go up thereon. "The hind of the morning" has drawn the cruel hunters upon himself, and now the most timid roes and hinds of the field may graze at perfect peace among the lilies of his loves. The thunder-cloud has burst over the Cross of Calvary, and the pilgrims of Zion shall never be smitten by the bolts of vengeance. Come, my heart, rejoice in the immunity which thy Redeemer has secured thee, and bless His name all the day, and every day.

Evening Verse

"When He cometh in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." Mark 8:38

If we have been partakers with Jesus in His shame, we shall be sharers with Him in the lustre which shall surround Him when He appears again in glory. Art thou, beloved one, with Christ Jesus? Does a vital union knit thee to Him? Then thou art to-day with Him in His shame; thou hast taken up His cross, and gone with Him without the camp bearing His reproach; thou shalt doubtless be with Him when the cross is exchanged for the crown. But judge thyself this evening; for if thou art not with Him in the regeneration, neither shalt thou be with Him when He shall come in His glory. If thou start back from the black side of communion, thou shalt not understand its bright, its happy period, when the King shall come, and all His holy angels with Him. What! are angels with Him? And yet He took not up angels--He took up the seed of Abraham. Are the holy angels with Him? Come, my soul, if thou art indeed His own beloved, thou canst not be far from Him. If His friends and His neighbours are called together to see His glory, what thinkest thou if thou art married to Him? Shalt thou be distant? Though it be a day of judgment, yet thou canst not be far from that heart which, having admitted angels into intimacy, has admitted thee into union. Has He not said to thee, O my soul, "I will betroth thee unto Me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness"? Have not His own lips said it, "I am married unto thee, and My delight is in thee"? If the angels, who are but friends and neighbours, shall be with Him, it is abundantly certain that His own beloved Hephzibah, in whom is all His delight, shall be near to Him, and sit at His right hand. Here is a morning star of hope for thee, of such exceeding brilliance, that it may well light up the darkest and most desolate experience.

CHRIST TAKEN IN THE GARDEN. 18:1-12

Sin began in the garden of Eden, there the curse was pronounced, there the Redeemer was promised; and in a garden that promised Seed entered into conflict with the old serpent. Christ was buried also in a garden. Let us, when we walk in our gardens, take occasion from thence to mediate on Christ's sufferings in a garden. Our Lord Jesus, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth and asked, Whom seek ye? When the people would have forced him to a crown, he withdrew, John 6:15, but when they came to force him to a cross, he offered himself; for he came into this world to suffer, and went to the other world to reign. He showed plainly what he could have done; when he struck them down he could have struck them dead, but he would not do so. It must have been the effect of Divine power, that the officers and soldiers let the disciples go away quietly, after the resistance which had been offered. Christ set us an example of meekness in sufferings, and a pattern of submission to God's will in every thing that concerns us. It is but a cup, a small matter. It is a cup that is given us; sufferings are gifts. It is given us by a Father, who has a father's authority, and does us no wrong; a father's affection, and means us no hurt. From the example of our Saviour we should learn how to receive our lighter afflictions, and to ask ourselves whether we ought to oppose our Father's will, or to distrust his love. We were bound with the cords of our iniquities, with the yoke of our transgressions. Christ, being made a sin-offering for us, to free us from those bonds, himself submitted to be bound for us. To his bonds we owe our liberty; thus the Son makes us free.

CHRIST MUST BE FOLLOWED. 8:34-38

Frequent notice is taken of the great flocking there was to Christ for help in various cases. All are concerned to know this, if they expect him to heal their souls. They must not indulge the ease of the body. As the happiness of heaven with Christ, is enough to make up for the loss of life itself for him, so the gain of all the world in sin, will not make up for the ruin of the soul by sin. And there is a day coming, when the cause of Christ will appear as glorious, as some now think it mean and contemptible. May we think of that season, and view every earthly object as we shall do at that great day.

_________________________________ Prayer:Dear Pracious Heavenly Father; I thank You so much for the restful sleep that You have given unto us through the night and in keeping us firmly fit and kept us protected until we have woken up to rise up to meet with you this very day. Father You are worthy for our praises and honour that we could lavish upon you as we praise your Holy name of Jesus Christ that's upon our lips that within our soul. Oh, Precious divine Father, there is so much going on in this world that You already know about before we even mention it to you this bright beauitful day that You have given unto us in us resting in your assurance and comfort that gives us so much of that peace that's within us as we worship You as our most high God. For We as Your Inheritance have given up all of those things that has ment to be given up as we surrender it all unto You in our lifstyles, relationships, our possessions that are not important unto us as You are precious Lord, in being about your business in feeding the flock that is in this world at large today simply because your coming back for us one day soon.Father there are those we have prayed and fasted for in bringing them home unto You but they seems to turn deaf ears unto Your words of truths and do not want to comply unto You and yet a few do listen and seem to bring those changes in thier lives. That is with truths in our loved ones that we have ministered to as well. How it literally breaks our hearts so very much to see and witness this as well. WE DON'T want them to miss that glorious kingdom that is waiting for them to go to and live forever in it. How we've cried and have wept for them so much in our life. Our hearts have been broken down to the core by such a loss. That even goes for those whom we have called our friends that just have shoved you into the ground in those lives. You have shared with us in [Ps. 73;1-28], just what happens to us in those trying times in our lives but to keep putting our hope in you No matter what it looks like unto us. For our true blessings comes from our precious heavenly Father God in knowing that we know that our triumps comes of our faith as those whom think that they have it will befall by the wayside as well as problems that other's choose to live in this world. Our hope remains in You. The wicked propsers as our true treausre in our life is You Precious Lord and your always with us as you guide us in the sword of the spirit, as you have given us in that mighty power of the Holy Spirit as You uphold us as You revive us in the holy spirit as we face each day. Thank You Jesus for all that You do before us ad we lift your name on high. Youare worthy to be praises in all of the earth. Glory HALLELUJAH! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Our Sovereign Lord! I love You so very much precious Jesus.Iam a blessed child of God. I fear the Lord and delight greatly in His commandments. My seed will be mighty in the earth and my generations will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in my house and my righteousness will endure forever. Because I walk uprightly before the Lord, light will arise in the darkness. My confusion will be overcome and I will have guidance from the Holy Spirit. There is no problems which can come against me that I will not have wisdom and the leading of the Lord to overcome. I will also guide my personal, family and business affairs with discretion. I have wisdom beyond my natural ability. Because I am gracious, compassionate, righteous and give to others, favor follows after me. Everywhere I go, blessings find me. Surely I will not be moved forever. I cannot be shaken by circumstances or fear from the enemy, because I keep the Lord forever in my remembrance. I will not be afraid of evil tidings. My heart is fixed. I trust in the Lord. My heart is established, I will never be afraid. Satan desires to see me defeated. I desire to see him defeated and destroyed. His desire will not come to pass over me. My desire will come to pass over him. With God’s power, I will outlast Satan every time. I have dispersed and given to the poor. My acts of righteousness are eternal. My horn is lifted up in anticipation of a great outpouring of God’s blessing into my life. The wicked will see it and be grieved. Though they gnash their teeth at me, they will melt away and their desires shall perish. My desires will be granted by the Lord and my treasuries will be filled.

"Through the Blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil. Through the Blood of Jesus, all my sins are forgiven. The Blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is cleansing me now from all my sin. Through the Blood of Jesus, I am justified, made righteous, just as if I’d never sinned. Through the Blood of Jesus, I am sanctified, made holy, set apart for my Master’s use. My body is a temple for the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed, and sanctified, by the Blood of Jesus. I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son, spirit, soul, and body. His Blood protects me from all evil. Because of the Blood of Jesus, satan has no more power over me and no more place in me. I renounce you satan and your hosts completely and I declare you to be my enemies. I command you satan and your hosts to leave me now, according to the word of God. I place (by faith) the Blood of Jesus on my doorposts; I draw the Bloodline of Jesus around family, my friends, possessions, properties and myself. In Jesus name, amen"

Morning & Evening Devotionals

Morning Verse

"His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." Luke 22:44

The mental pressure arising from our Lord's struggle with temptation, so forced his frame to an unnatural excitement, that his pores sent forth great drops of blood which fell down to the ground. This proves how tremendous must have been the weight of sin when it was able to crush the Saviour so that he distilled great drops of blood! This demonstrates the mighty power of his love. It is a very pretty observation of old Isaac Ambrose that the gum which exudes from the tree without cutting is always the best. This precious camphire-tree yielded most sweet spices when it was wounded under the knotty whips, and when it was pierced by the nails on the cross; but see, it giveth forth its best spice when there is no whip, no nail, no wound. This sets forth the voluntariness of Christ's sufferings, since without a lance the blood flowed freely. No need to put on the leech, or apply the knife; it flows spontaneously. No need for the rulers to cry, "Spring up, O well;" of itself it flows in crimson torrents. If men suffer great pain of mind apparently the blood rushes to the heart. The cheeks are pale; a fainting fit comes on; the blood has gone inward as if to nourish the inner man while passing through its trial. But see our Saviour in His agony; he is so utterly oblivious of self, that instead of his agony driving his blood to the heart to nourish himself, it drives it outward to bedew the earth. The agony of Christ, inasmuch as it pours him out upon the ground, pictures the fulness of the offering which he made for men.

Do we not perceive how intense must have been the wrestling through which he passed, and will we not hear its voice to us? "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." Behold the great Apostle and High Priest of our profession, and sweat even to blood rather than yield to the great tempter of your souls.

Evening Verse

"I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." Luke 19:40

But could the stones cry out? Assuredly they could if He who opens the mouth of the dumb should bid them lift up their voice. Certainly if they were to speak, they would have much to testify in praise of Him who created them by the word of His power; they could extol the wisdom and power of their Maker who called them into being. Shall not we speak well of Him who made us anew, and out of stones raised up children unto Abraham? The old rocks could tell of chaos and order, and the handiwork of God in successive stages of creation's drama; and cannot we talk of God's decrees, of God's great work in ancient times, in all that He did for His church in the days of old? If the stones were to speak, they could tell of their breaker, how he took them from the quarry, and made them fit for the temple, and cannot we tell of our glorious Breaker, who broke our hearts with the hammer of His word, that He might build us into His temple? If the stones should cry out they would magnify their builder, who polished them and fashioned them after the similitude of a palace; and shall not we talk of our Architect and Builder, who has put us in our place in the temple of the living God? If the stones could cry out, they might have a long, long story to tell by way of memorial, for many a time hath a great stone been rolled as a memorial before the Lord; and we too can testify of Ebenezers, stones of help, pillars of remembrance. The broken stones of the law cry out against us, but Christ Himself, who has rolled away the stone from the door of the sepulchre, speaks for us. Stones might well cry out, but we will not let them: we will hush their noise with ours; we will break forth into sacred song, and bless the majesty of the Most High, all our days glorifying Him who is called by Jacob the Shepherd and Stone of Israel.

THE BIG PICTURE:

CHRIST'S AGONY IN THE GARDEN. 22:39-46

Every description which the evangelists give of the state of mind in which our Lord entered upon this conflict, proves the tremendous nature of the assault, and the perfect foreknowledge of its terrors possessed by the meek and lowly Jesus. Here are three things not in the other evangelists. 1. When Christ was in his agony, there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. It was a part of his humiliation that he was thus strengthened by a ministering spirit. 2. Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. Prayer, though never out of season, is in a special manner seasonable when we are in an agony. 3. In this agony his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down. This showed the travail of his soul. We should pray also to be enabled to resist unto the shedding of our blood, striving against sin, if ever called to it. When next you dwell in imagination upon the delights of some favourite sin, think of its effects as you behold them here! See its fearful effects in the garden of Gethsemane, and desire, by the help of God, deeply to hate and to forsake that enemy, to ransom sinners from whom the Redeemer prayed, agonized, and bled.

THE BIG PICTURE:

CHRIST ENTERS JERUSALEM. 19:28-40

Christ has dominion over all creatures, and may use them as he pleases. He has all men's hearts both under his eye and in his hand. Christ's triumphs, and his disciples' joyful praises, vex proud Pharisees, who are enemies to him and to his kingdom. But Christ, as he despises the contempt of the proud, so he accepts the praises of the humble. Pharisees would silence the praises of Christ, but they cannot; for as God can out of stones raise up children unto Abraham, and turn the stony heart to himself, so he can bring praise out of the mouths of children. And what will be the feelings of men when the Lord returns in glory to judge the world!__________________________________________________________________ PRAYER:

Heavenly Father,
I bow in worship and praise before you. I cover myself with the blood of Jesus Christ and claim the protection of the blood for my family, my finances, my home, my spirit, soul and body. I surrender myself completely in every area of my life to you. I take a stand against all the workings of the devil that would try and hinder me and my family from best serving you. I address myself only to the true and living God who has all power and control over everything. satan, I command you and all your demon forces of darkness, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to leave my presence. I bring the blood of Jesus Christ between the devil and my family, my home, my finances, my spirit, soul and body. In Jesus Name

I declare, therefore, that satan and his wicked spirits are subject to me in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Furthermore, in my own life today I destroy and tear down all the strongholds of satan and smash the plans of satan that have been formed against me and my family. I tear down the strongholds of the devil against my mind and I surrender my mind to you, Blessed Holy Spirit.

I affirm, Heavenly Father, that you have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Therefore, I resist the spirit of fear, in the name of Jesus, the Son of the Living God, and I refuse to fear, refuse to doubt, refuse to worry, because I have authority (power) over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt me (Luke 10:19).

I claim complete and absolute victory over the forces of darkness in the name of Jesus and I bind the devil and command him to loose my peace, joy, prosperity, and every member of my family for the glory of God and by FAITH I call it done. I break and smash the strongholds of Satan formed against my emotions today and give my emotions to you, Lord Jesus. I destroy the strongholds of satan against my body today and I give my body to you Lord Jesus, realizing that I am the Temple of the Holy Ghost (I Corinthians 3:16, I Corinthians 6:19-20).

Again, I cover myself with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and pray that the Holy Ghost would bring all the work of the crucifixion, all the work of the resurrection, all the work of the ascension and all the work of restoration of the Lord Jesus Christ into my life today. I surrender my life and possessions to you. I refuse to fear, worry, or be discouraged in the name of Jesus. I will not hate, envy, or show any type of bitterness toward my brothers, sisters, or my enemies, but I will LOVE them with the love of God shed aboard in my heart by the Holy Ghost.

Open my eyes and show me the areas of my life that do not please you and give me the strength, grace and wisdom to remove any sin or weight that would prevent your close fellowship. Work in me to cleanse me from all ground that would give the devil a foothold against me. I claim in every way the victory of the cross over all satanic forces in my life. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with thanksgiving and I welcome all the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Even now, as (we) lift (our) praises to the Lord, the chief prince (Dan. 10:13) assigned to rule over this home, ministry, city, etc has been bound with fetters of iron (Psa. 149:8). (we) break the assignment of the world ruler over this entire Iris Ministries in the Name of Jesus satan, you are also bound with chains of iron. Whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven (Mt. 18:18) and with that authority (we) cast you down. Jesus is Lord over these homes, ministries, cities, countries, etc. Now by faith (we) loose the peace and grace and truth of Christ. Heidi Baker Emergency Update: She says bombs are hitting their church and their children's center with children in it—PRAY!

The following update was recently sent out by Iris Ministries...

To The Bakers close friends and prayer support,

Heidi asked me to contact you for prayer as bombs have detonated in our capitol city Maputo, Mozambique. Three bombs have already hit our children's center in Zimpeto. As Heidi was talking on the phone with Norberto (her son who was sobbing), a bomb went off as he was speaking in our center. Apparently, he barely moved out of the way to avoid it. Three bombs hit the center. Our church got hit by a bomb, windows were shattered. Our kids just rallied together in our shattered church, just worshipping and worshipping and praying. However, our children are extremely scared. (Photo: Rolland and Heidi Baker)

The government made a mistake and mixed chemicals in our hot 36 degree (C), (96.8 F) weather. This set off one missile, which had a domino effect. It is complete and utter chaos. There is no way, at this point, to reverse that mistake. I don't believe any of our children have been hit.

Recently, The Mozambican Government refused to declare a national emergency for the recent flooding of Zambezi River, despite the fact that tens of thousands of lives have been displaced. People were starving, living like animals. Iris is one of the only relief efforts out there. In fact, a few days ago, the government again refused to acknowledge the situation as a national emergency, and even denied duty free status on our twelve containers of food. The good news is that no one is refusing Jesus. Heidi said that everyone within the sound of a preacher's voice runs to Jesus.

Heidi and I will arrive at the capital, on an emergency flight tomorrow. Please pray. Norberto also has one of the highest ratings of malaria. Pray for him too as he has been leading relief efforts in flood zones for a month.

We are trusting Jesus completely. God recently spoke to Heidi that He was going to shine a global spot light on Mozambique. That as the government refused outside help/attention/relief, God Himself would intervene. That even that which the enemy intended for evil would be used for good. We want our entire nation transformed by the glory of God. Nothing less.

In love with Jesus,

Shara Pradhan (for Rolland & Heidi Baker)

Morning Verse

"And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed." Matthew 26:39

There are several instructive features in our Saviour's prayer in His hour of trial. It was lonely prayer. He withdrew even from His three favoured disciples. Believer, be much in solitary prayer, especially in times of trial. Family prayer, social prayer, prayer in the Church, will not suffice, these are very precious, but the best beaten spice will smoke in your censer in your private devotions, where no ear hears but God's.

It was humble prayer. Luke says He knelt, but another evangelist says He "fell on His face." Where, then, must be THY place, thou humble servant of the great Master? What dust and ashes should cover thy head! Humility gives us good foot-hold in prayer. There is no hope of prevalence with God unless we abase ourselves that He may exalt us in due time.

It was filial prayer. "Abba, Father." You will find it a stronghold in the day of trial to plead your adoption. You have no rights as a subject, you have forfeited them by your treason; but nothing can forfeit a child's right to a father's protection. Be not afraid to say, "My Father, hear my cry."

Observe that it was persevering prayer. He prayed three times. Cease not until you prevail. Be as the importunate widow, whose continual coming earned what her first supplication could not win. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.

Lastly, it was the prayer of resignation. "Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt." Yield, and God yields. Let it be as God wills, and God will determine for the best. Be thou content to leave thy prayer in his hands, who knows when to give, and how to give, and what to give, and what to withhold. So pleading, earnestly, importunately, yet with humility and resignation, thou shalt surely prevail.

Evening Verse

"Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am." John 17:24

O death! why dost thou touch the tree beneath whose spreading branches weariness hath rest? Why dost thou snatch away the excellent of the earth, in whom is all our delight? If thou must use thine axe, use it upon the trees which yield no fruit; thou mightest be thanked then. But why wilt thou fell the goodly cedars of Lebanon? O stay thine axe, and spare the righteous. But no, it must not be; death smites the goodliest of our friends; the most generous, the most prayerful, the most holy, the most devoted must die. And why? It is through Jesus' prevailing prayer--"Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am." It is that which bears them on eagle's wings to heaven. Every time a believer mounts from this earth to paradise, it is an answer to Christ's prayer. A good old divine remarks, "Many times Jesus and His people pull against one another in prayer. You bend your knee in prayer and say 'Father, I will that Thy saints be with me where I am'; Christ says, 'Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am.'" Thus the disciple is at cross-purposes with his Lord. The soul cannot be in both places: the beloved one cannot be with Christ and with you too. Now, which pleader shall win the day? If you had your choice; if the King should step from His throne, and say, "Here are two supplicants praying in opposition to one another, which shall be answered?" Oh! I am sure, though it were agony, you would start from your feet, and say, "Jesus, not my will, but Thine be done." You would give up your prayer for your loved one's life, if you could realize the thoughts that Christ is praying in the opposite direction--"Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am." Lord, Thou shalt have them. By faith we let them go.

HIS AGONY IN THE GARDEN. 26:36-46

He who made atonement for the sins of mankind, submitted himself in a garden of suffering, to the will of God, from which man had revolted in a garden of pleasure. Christ took with him into that part of the garden where he suffered his agony, only those who had witnessed his glory in his transfiguration. Those are best prepared to suffer with Christ, who have by faith beheld his glory. The words used denote the most entire dejection, amazement, anguish, and horror of mind; the state of one surrounded with sorrows, overwhelmed with miseries, and almost swallowed up with terror and dismay. He now began to be sorrowful, and never ceased to be so till he said, It is finished. He prayed that, if possible, the cup might pass from him. But he also showed his perfect readiness to bear the load of his sufferings; he was willing to submit to all for our redemption and salvation. According to this example of Christ, we must drink of the bitterest cup which God puts into our hands; though nature struggle, it must submit. It should be more our care to get troubles sanctified, and our hearts satisfied under them, than to get them taken away. It is well for us that our salvation is in the hand of One who neither slumbers nor sleeps. All are tempted, but we should be much afraid of entering into temptation. To be secured from this, we should watch and pray, and continually look unto the Lord to hold us up that we may be safe. Doubtless our Lord had a clear and full view of the sufferings he was to endure, yet he spoke with the greatest calmness till this time. Christ was a Surety, who undertook to be answerable for our sins. Accordingly he was made sin for us, and suffered for our sins, the Just for the unjust; and Scripture ascribes his heaviest sufferings to the hand of God. He had full knowledge of the infinite evil of sin, and of the immense extent of that guilt for which he was to atone; with awful views of the Divine justice and holiness, and the punishment deserved by the sins of men, such as no tongue can express, or mind conceive. At the same time, Christ suffered being tempted; probably horrible thoughts were suggested by Satan that tended to gloom and every dreadful conclusion: these would be the more hard to bear from his perfect holiness. And did the load of imputed guilt so weigh down the soul of Him of whom it is said, He upholdeth all things by the word of his power? into what misery then must those sink whose sins are left upon their own heads! How will those escape who neglect so great salvation? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HIS PRAYER: 17:24-26

Christ, as one with the Father, claimed on behalf of all that had been given to him, and should in due time believe on him, that they should be brought to heaven; and that there the whole company of the redeemed might behold his glory as their beloved Friend and Brother, and therein find happiness. He had declared and would further declare the name or character of God, by his doctrine and his Spirit, that, being one with him, the love of the Father to him might abide with them also. Thus, being joined to Him by one Spirit, they might be filled with all the fulness of God, and enjoy a blessedness of which we can form no right idea in our present state.
