Warning !!! Don't Go To A CULT!!!!

  1. 1.How does the doctrine of the group measure up to Orthodox Christianity? There are doctrinal differences among Christians, yet all Christians agree upon basic things such as the Person and the Work of Christ, His Divinity, His atoning death and His resurrection to name a few.

  2. Can you get to know the leadership? I Thess. 5:12 says that we to get to know those who work among us. If you cannot get to know them, if they are aloof, independent and unapproachable it is at least a warning sign. By itself it does not mean they are false, but it is an indication that everything is not right.

  3. How is the relationship of the leadership with other leaders in the area?

  4. What is their personal, family and financial life like?

  5. Do they have a good reputation in the Community?

Searching the Internet I came across a webpage dealing with Warning Signs of a potentially unsafe group or leadership. The Rick Ross Institute has graciously allowed me to reproduce it here. I believe these can be helpful to those who sincerely have questions about a group or the leadership of a group.

Please let me gently remind you that not everyone gets along with everyone else. You may attend a Church or Fellowship where you have a hard time getting along with the leader. Please make sure that it is more than a personality clash or a difference of opinion before you accuse someone of being false. Please remember Paul's admonition in Romans:

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Rom 12:18 NIV

With that in mind, here are Warning Signs of a Potentially Unsafe Group or Leader:

Ten warning signs of a potentially unsafe group/leader.

  1. Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
  2. No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
  3. No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
  4. Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
  5. There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
  6. Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.
  7. There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader.
  8. Followers feel they can never be "good enough".
  9. The group/leader is always right.
  10. The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.

Ten warning signs regarding people involved in/with a potentially unsafe group/leader.

  1. Extreme obsessiveness regarding the group/leader resulting in the exclusion of almost every practical consideration.
  2. Individual identity, the group, the leader and/or God as distinct and separate categories of existence become increasingly blurred. Instead, in the follower's mind these identities become substantially and increasingly fused--as that person's involvement with the group/leader continues and deepens.
  3. Whenever the group/leader is criticized or questioned it is characterized as "persecution".
  4. Uncharacteristically stilted and seemingly programmed conversation and mannerisms, cloning of the group/leader in personal behavior.
  5. Dependency upon the group/leader for problem solving, solutions, and definitions without meaningful reflective thought. A seeming inability to think independently or analyze situations without group/leader involvement.
  6. Hyperactivity centered on the group/leader agenda, which seems to supercede any personal goals or individual interests.
  7. A dramatic loss of spontaneity and sense of humor.
  8. Increasing isolation from family and old friends unless they demonstrate an interest in the group/leader.
  9. Anything the group/leader does can be justified no matter how harsh or harmful.
  10. Former followers are at best-considered negative or worse evil and under bad influences. They can not be trusted and personal contact is avoided.

Ten signs of a safe group/leader.

  1. A safe group/leader will answer your questions without becoming judgmental and punitive.
  2. A safe group/leader will disclose information such as finances and often offer an independently audited financial statement regarding budget and expenses. Safe groups and leaders will tell you more than you want to know.
  3. A safe group/leader is often democratic, sharing decision making and encouraging accountability and oversight.
  4. A safe group/leader may have disgruntled former followers, but will not vilify, excommunicate and forbid others from associating with them.
  5. A safe group/leader will not have a paper trail of overwhelmingly negative records, books, articles and statements about them.
  6. A safe group/leader will encourage family communication, community interaction and existing friendships and not feel threatened.
  7. A safe group/leader will recognize reasonable boundaries and limitations when dealing with others.
  8. A safe group/leader will encourage critical thinking, individual autonomy and feelings of self-esteem.
  9. A safe group/leader will admit failings and mistakes and accept constructive criticism and advice.
  10. A safe group/leader will not be the only source of knowledge and learning excluding everyone else, but value dialogue and the free exchange of ideas.

Don't be naïve, develop a good BS Detector.

You can protect yourself from unsafe groups and leaders by developing a good BS detector. Check things out, know the facts and examine the evidence. A safe group will be patient with your decision making process. If a group or leader grows angry and anxious just because you want to make an informed and careful decision before joining; beware.

Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the Living God

The title words were spoken by Peter when Jesus asked him, "Who are people saying that I am?" The disciples answered that some of the people said he was a prophet, others answered other things. Then Jesus said, "But who do YOU say that I am?" And that question is the heart of the matter.

The confession of Peter as to who Jesus is has been the foundation of the Church since its birth. It is upon this confession that the true Church is built, and without the revelation of who Jesus is there is no true Christian faith. It is precisely this revelation that is questioned, ridiculed and even hated by many, for the confession of who Jesus is points to the undeniable truth that there is no other Savior and no other way to God. For other religions this amounts to a slap in the face if not worse. It is however, the ultimate truth.

History

The early Church had questions as to what the basic beliefs of the Christian faith were comprised of and met to hammer these out and put them in simple form so that it would be clear as to what the Church believed and stood for.

The Nicene Creed was adopted by the Church Council at Nicæa in AD 325 and appears in its present form by the Council at Chalcedon in AD 451. It has remained in use since that time. It states clearly the nature and work of Christ.

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Scripture

The Bible itself is also clear as to who Jesus is. The Gospel According to St. John records that Jesus was with God and that He was God. John also states that everything in creation was made by Jesus and that He had created the world and then come to this world.

John - Chapter 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

In the 12th Chapter of John, the writer there is speaking of Jesus and says that in the Old Testament, Jesus was revealed as The Lord (or more commonly translated, "Jehovah")

John 12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

When did Isaiah see the glory? The only recorded instance is in Isaiah chapter 6 where he says " In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory." (verses 1 - 3)

Holy Scripture makes it abundantly clear that Jesus is Divine, that He is Creator, and that He is Lord of all.

No Other Way

Of Himself Jesus had this to say: John 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

A good man will not tell you that he is the only way to reach God. Either this is the truth or it is a lie. If it is a lie, we can disregard everything else Jesus had to say! Why listen to a liar? If it is the truth then we stand in eternal danger if we do not listen!

Separation

The truth of who Jesus is separates mere religion from the truth.

I John 2: 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

If you are of a religion that denies the Divinity of Christ, you are anti-Christ. Further, you have no part with the Father. The key to reaching God is Jesus, NO ONE ELSE! Not Buddha, not Mohammed, not Confucius, not Abraham ..... No One Else! Without Jesus you cannot reach God.

Peter told the crowd in the temple ... " Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:10-12 emphasis added)

There is no salvation in any other name than the name of Jesus.

What About ..... ?

You may ask, what about those people who don't believe in Jesus? People who have other religions? Can they be saved? The Scripture is clear about one thing, only through Jesus Christ can a person be saved. There is no salvation any other way.

Christianity is exclusive. God has given a revelation and we must follow it. Christianity is not anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, anti-homosexual, anti-Hindu ... God loves everyone. He loves the atheist and even those who hate Him. But He requires that we come to Him HIS WAY.

Understand this, you are free to believe what you want and worship however you choose. If you choose to reject this truth that is your choice.

One of these days however, God will have the last word. At that day every knee will bow and every person will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. It would pay to do it now rather than later.

.And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

WHo is this man jesus?

Why would He be interested in me?

Who is Jesus? This is the question that everyone of us must answer. Not just, "who is he to me?", but "Who is He?" That question has been floating around since Jesus walked this earth. He even asked His followers the same question once saying, "Who are people saying that I am?" The answers to this question were not all that much different 2000 years ago than they are today, for people today still have a hard time facing just who Jesus really is! They said, "Well, he is a great teacher" or, "He is one of the prophets come back to life" or ........you can just fill in the blank yourself. Yet His next question struck to the heart of the matter. He said, "Who do you say that I am?" When Peter answered and said, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God!" Jesus called him blessed and said that Peter did not arrive at this conclusion by accident or even by a logical process of evaluation. Jesus said His Father had revealed this to Peter, and that upon this revelation the true Church would be built.

The important thing in each individual's life is this: Who do you say Jesus is? If you say, "He was a great teacher" I would have to agree. However there have been many great teachers, none of whom impacted the world like this man. If you say, "He was a prophet" again I would have to agree. But there have been many prophets. So many that we do not even remember them all. If you say, "He was a good man" I would again agree. But here is a question. Would a "good" man, a true prophet, a great teacher say, "I am the only way to God"? A good man would not say that. Neither would a good teacher or true prophet. BUT....Jesus did!

Now, either the statement that Jesus made is true or it is a lie. If it is a lie, then Jesus is neither a good teacher, a good man nor a good prophet. If that statement is a lie we can stop right here and not worry about God, the Bible or Jesus. But if it is true, then we have another problem, for if Jesus is who He says He is then our thinking will have to undergo a radical change, for Jesus does demand certain things.

What Did Jesus Say About Himself?

In the Gospel of John, the 16th chapter, Jesus is speaking with His disciples on the eve of His betrayal. As He tries to comfort their fears concerning the future He says that when the Holy Spirit has come He will convince the world of sin. Then He explains, "....the world's sin is unbelief in me."(verse 9).

Get this. Jesus said the basic sin of all mankind was not believing in Him!

In chapter 14 of the Gospel of John, the 6th verse, Jesus told the disciples that no man could get to God without Him! He said of Himself, "I am the way....no one can get to the Father except by means of me."

And in John 10:8-9 Jesus says "All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers...I am the door; by me if any man enter in he shall be saved..."

Here Jesus declared all other ways to God to be invalid, no good or false!

And in the chapter 14, verse 9, Jesus declared that if anyone had seen Him, they had seen God the Father. Previously in chapter 10 verse 30 He declared Himself to be one with the Father. And in chapter 8, verse 56 through 58 He said that He existed before Abraham, and then called Himself by the sacred name "I Am". This angered those who heard Him to the point that they tried to kill Him.

So Jesus declared Himself to be God, equal with God, and the only means of reaching God. Are these the statements of a "good man" or a "good teacher"? Either these are true facts about Jesus or they are a lie. If they are a lie we can disregard all that He has said. But on the other hand, if true, then we must deal with them or the consequences of rejecting them.

Statements by the Apostle John

The Apostle John traveled with Jesus during His lifetime and then ministered the Good News about Jesus the rest of his life. John said that the Hebrew prophet Isaiah saw Jesus and spoke of Him. Yet Isaiah lived hundreds of years before Jesus was ever born. How could he have seen Jesus?

In the 6th chapter of the Book of Isaiah, the prophet writes, "In the year that king Uzziah died, I also saw Jehovah (emphasis mine - the KJV says "the Lord") sitting upon a throne...." The Apostle John applies this to Jesus! If you carefully search out the writings of those who knew Him you will find they believed Jesus was God. Creator. The One who had made this earth and everything in it, including us.

In John's words again, "Before anything else existed, there was Christ...He has always been alive and is himself God. He created everything there is - nothing exists that he didn't make....(John 1:1-3 TLB)

Why Would the Creator Come to Earth?

God came to earth for one reason, to provide a way for humans to reach Him. In His words, to provide salvation. Man had chosen in the beginning to go his own way. By rejecting the Creator, man opened a "canyon" between himself and God. Man could not bridge this gulf even though he has tried throughout the centuries. God Himself had to make the way.

The prophet Isaiah wrote (many years before Jesus came) this description of the problem: "All we like sheep have gone astray"..(this is the universality of sin) "..we have turned everyone to his own way.." (this is the individuality of sin) "...and the Lord hath laid on him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all." (this is the remedy - Jesus, standing in for us and receiving the punishment in our place) (Isa. 53:6 KJV)

The Creator came to earth for another reason - He became one of us so that He can identify with our problems. God understands your situation! He has been here. He knows what life is like because He came and lived with us. He is one of us. Today there is a Man in heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, who knows how you feel, who understands you, and who can help you. All you need to do is lay aside your pride, ego, or whatever holds you back and begin to believe on Him. Ask Him to help you. Ask Him to forgive you. Ask Him to bring what you need, to restore you and to give you eternal life.

You can pray this prayer now and we will be in prayer with you:

"Lord Jesus - I choose to believe that YOU are God.

I choose to believe that you are Creator.

I choose to believe that You alone can forgive my sins.

Forgive me, cleanse me and make me part of your family.

Come into my life. Be my Savior and my Lord.

I receive You and Your forgiveness NOW by faith.

I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

I thank You for answering my prayer and cleansing me of all sin.

Thank You Jesus!"

Now that you have prayed this prayer, please contact us so that we may be of further help to you. We ask nothing except for you to continue on with the Lord. God Bless You! cclose1944@sbcglobal.net or catcmo2006@sbcglobal.net

Hope In the Coming Pastor

Jesus Christ has so many words that speaks to me. I'm listening and re learning as my life turns unto a New Beginning of each New Day being in the Masters Hands. This new day is like a brand new blank sheet of paper on which My Lord and I can write new ways of being and doing in the world. I will write about what I loving wish my relationship with Jesus Christ, with myself and with others that He assigns me to be with each day as we walk hand in hand with one another. I throughly expect this day of healing to feel and be energizing health pulsing through me. I expect this day to be a day of joy and love, which I will be free from anxieties. As I walk in love, with all of those satisying relationships. I expect today, and each day, to be a time of renewal and deepening understanding of myself as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I welcome this new season, this new day, and this new me as well.

As I am sitting here thinking about some prayers I've found more to be prayed in the coming year over each one of you all as I normally do in knowing God will answer it as each day passes in relying on Him through His mighty provisions that He sends it to my pastors and the families of each ones own household but unto the family of people at the church in helping each people in growing so much closer in each of our lives as all of walk with Jesus Christ. Now that all of us are in a brand new year of 2007, holding each other up and we each as individuals knows one another burdens, trial, tribulation that will guide us to Jesus in having victories in thanking Him and giving Him our praises and glory unto the might deliever in us growing up in our character in all likeness of the one we love in our obedience as it has been given unto us by the spirit of truth in His magnifying presence of whom He is in us. What a blessing to know such truths, even when it's not within us to do at those ever ending moments that seems like it will not end but only the father knows when it does and for us to take that extra second in time to thank Him for it all anyway. Thank each of you for listen , observing, so each of you can help us to help someone else in this world as YOU have taught us to do. God Bless You all ! Here is the list!

9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Colossians 1:9-14
beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

4For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

7Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

8Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

11Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

13Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Then as God bring unto each of His postive winess unto each of You by the Holy Ghost, upon recieving it by Thanking Him for doing it.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Ephesians 5:18-23

As each of You has dealt with the enemy. Come against him in His power and authorityas I know each of you will do in being consistent with Charater of God whom is all powerful in sizing up those moments between each of you. 7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

James 4:7-10

As As each of you know as you wait so tenderly on God in ones expectancy for He will bring it in ones own mind To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. John 10:3. This I have learned and most likely you are doing it too. Having your Bibles with you just as I in that Holy event that our precious God want to give conformation or His direction that only He can give unto You Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.Psalms 119:105. So in all things that He has brought unto our minds in which to be praying about as all of us to pray, praise Him for what He done or doing. We have this simple reminder that our God has our glory. For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.Romans 11:36.15. And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,

16Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.Numbers 27:15-17.

1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

6I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

8For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

9I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

10And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

25O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

26And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.John 17:1-26<> For The CHURCH BODY. 13That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.2 Chronicles 15:12-15. 4And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,

18And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.<. Enlightenment.

36And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

37Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

38And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

39And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

40And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.<> The proof of His call.

HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE

HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLELesson Two: Old Testament OverviewThe Old Testament consists of the 39 books of the original Jewish Bible, still used by Jewish people today. The word "Testament" means "covenant, agreement, contract". The word "Old" means "older, original," or the way God related to men and women before the Coming of Christ. The Old Testament contains many observable kinds of information: The Revelation of the Creation of the World by God, The entry of Sin into the World. The FloodThe History of the Ancient World Through the eyes of God, the division of the languages of the worldThe History of the calling and God's dealings with Abraham and his decendents, the People of IsraelThe Laws given to Israel, forming their "Constitution" and duties to God and morality of lifeThe Early history of Israel, the kings and judges and captivity of Israel to BabylonThe Writings of the Prophets, dealing with confronting sin and waywardness from God, The Prophecies of The Coming Messiah, the Future Resolution of history, end times, and New heaven and earthThe Psalms, Songs of worship and praise and deep teachings about GodThe Wisdom Books, Job, Proverbs, Eccelesiastes, Song of Solomon------------ --------- --------- --------- ------Perhaps we could title the Bible God's Plan. The Old Testament would be Volume One: The Plan Begins. And the New Testament would be called Volume Two: The Plan Completed.The Purpose of the Old Testament was to reveal THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE COMING KING! All through the Old Testament the student of the Scriptures can find Jesus.The Subject/Theme of the Old Testament was to reveal THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND THE COMING KING. All of the Old Testament looks forward to the Messiah and His kingdom.The General Content of the Old Testament: Please open your Bibles to the 'Table of Contents' as we work through this material. The Old Testament is neatly divided into three major sections.a. HISTORY, Genesis to Esther.b. POETRY, Job to Ecciesiastes c. PROPHECY, Isaiah to MalachiThe Specific Content of the Old Testament Books.Historical BooksThe first five books of the Old Testament are called "The Pentateuch" and are believed to be written by Moses.GENESIS is the book of beginnings or origins....of the world, the human race and especially the Hebrew nation. It contains the stories of Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, and the biographies of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph.EXODUS is the book of the deliverance of Israel from Egyptian slavery. It includes the origin of the Passover, the Red Sea crossing, and the Ten Commandments.LEVITICUS is a detailed description of Jewish religious ceremonies and sacrifices.NUMBERS records the journeyings of the Israelites from Mount Sinai, where they received the Ten Commandments, to the Jordan River, just before their conquest of the Promised Land.DEUTERONOMY means 'second law.' After Solomon's death, the Jewish kingdom is divided into Israel, or "the North" and Judah, or "the South."2 KINGS is about the ongoing civil war between Israel and Judah. Both kingdoms are finally destroyed by the judgment of God.1,2 CHRONICLES are a kind of repeat of 1,2 Kings, with an emphasis on the history of the southern kingdom, Judah, from the reign of David to the Babylonian Captivity.EZRA and NEHEMIAH are about the return of the Jews to Israel after 70 years of captivity in Babylon. Major ProphetsISAIAH is about the future kingdom of the Messiah. Isaiah is full of beauty and hope. MALACHI, on robbing God, judgment, and the return of Elijah in the last days.The Teaching of the Old Testament(from material prepared by W. P. Ern Baxter).One word sums up all..Christ. But let's see how this comes to pass. We will imagine a stranger with only an Old Testament in his hand. He opens to Genesis 1 and begins reading verse by verse. Soon he comes to Chapter 3, with its promise of Someone coming. He reads on and finds a repetition of the same promise in almost every book, until as he reads from Isaiah onwards the very Fullness of prophecy appears. But he comes to Malachi 4, the last chapter of the Old Testament, and the promises have not been realized. The reader has now become conscious the Old Testament is ,.. a book of unfulfilled prophecies.So he turns back to Genesis 1 and starts again. Soon he is conscious of something strange and unusual: sacrifice and offering already in Genesis 4. He wonders what can be the purpose of it again in chapters 9, 12, and 22, and still more clearly in Exodus, until in Leviticus there is an entire organization of sacrifices, offerings, rites and ceremonies. He sees them referred to again and again, with very little explanation of their real meaning, until once more he reaches Malachi 4 without the light he needs. He is now conscious that the Old Testament is also ... a book or unexplained ceremonies.Once more the reader returns to Genesis, and it is not long before he becomes aware of another great fact: man's great desire and longing for God. He reads of it in chapters 4, 5,15, 28, and 49 and throughout the rest of Bible history, but most of all in Job, Psalms and the Prophets. He reads again and again about people crying out for relationship with the living God and for the blessings God has promised. There are often answers, and there are great moments of satisfaction, but something is still missing. Again, the Old Testament ends without the complete realization of satisfaction in mans relationship with God. And our reader becomes conscious of yet another fact, that the Old Testament is ... a book of unsatisfied longings.These are three threads running through the Old Testament making it by itself an incomplete book. It ought to be studied from this standpoint and with this perspective if it is to be rightly understood. Only thus will it be appreciated as the foundation of the New Testament.And we will imagine that someone now gives our stranger a copy of the New Testament. As he begins to read, he finds there the very things he has failed to discover in the Old Testament! On the very first page he reads, 'That it might be fulfilled... ."And soon he realizes that:Jesus the Prophet fulfills in His life, the prophecies.Jesus the Priest explains. in his death, the ceremonies.Jesus the King satisfies. in his resurrection, the longings.Jesus, my Prophet, Priest and King, is thus the key to the lock, the perfect explanation of Old Testament history, ceremony and prophecy.Homepage for this study: http://www.theanswer.org/biblestudy/inspiration.htm------------ --------- --------- -----Bible Verses to Ponder--(Psa 1 KJV) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.{2} But his delight is in the law of the LORD;and in his law doth he meditate day and night.{3} And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. {4} The ungodly are not so:but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. {5} Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. {6} For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.(Deu 17:18-20 KJV) And it shall be, when he{the earrthly king of Israel} sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: {19} And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:{20} That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren,and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.(Josh 1:6-9 KJV) Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. {7} Only be thou strong and very courageous,that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. {8} This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.{9} Have not I commanded thee?Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.(Deu 6:5-9 KJV) And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. {6} And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: {7} And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. {8} And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. {9} And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. cclose_43 Thank You for stopping in this site,group Sites, web sites and other prayer sites as well in holding one another up for prayer's being totally united in everyone around this world, it's about Jesus Christ first and prayers,intecessory prayer's and at other times about this vast world we live in today which this old world as we all know it is slowly departing to be reaching our home in glory.

Jesus Christ Weeps

Jesus Christ Weeps: Scriptures:Deut.32:22,Job.28;6, Job. 28:22,Jer.4:1-27,Ps.6:5,Ps.88:12,Ps.139:8, Matt.26:36, Matt.14:32.

Hi Brother's & Sister in The Lord; I had this in my own spirit and I can't even begin to explain this as I'm trying to give it to each of you as best as I can possibly do right now today or whatever time it is at your home. I know my words gets mixed up at times but this kept nagging me until it was all done inside of my own spirit. Maybe someone out there in the pc world will be able to discern it much better than my own feeble attempts at doing the best I can do before each of you today. All that I do know that our very,very precious Jesus had given it to me today as I kept reading His sword of the spirit which is truths unto us all! As you all seen the picture of our Lord Jesus Christ in the picture aboue this post. Every time that I've tried to use it something else had got in the way til this very moment. To me it represented all of those people whom haven't come unto the Lord as of rejecting him totally being in the worlds view of things. They have ones own mindsets of what they think he is and unto the rest of those all around them in some sort of thinking in one form or another. The closer we get in Jesus coming for us the more I have cried with the Lord in knowing what that final destination and outcome will be for most of the world's population in whom are now in the ways of the world today and possibly times past as well as a persons final place of that destructive destination which will be very horrible but they just don't seem to care though it seems to be that way. As you've already seen the scriptures at the very of this page is where I've been in spending time in Him but that inner feelings just didn't go away from me as it had come to me it literally made me cry for all of the lost ones but in a sense made me happy for us. That in which for the Lost became greater in knowing what they are doing by rejecting him in knowing that end resulttoo. For myself in some sick way I felt ashamed for the feeling of what is coming to the true believers as we have been set free by our judge whom we will be seen in the Lambs Book of Life. Well here is those scriptures but given to me in the spirit. It will not have them as some of you have gotton it by the Spirit of the Lord but it's all I have known because it's what he's done since I came back to life again back a few number of years ago. When it happens to me I take notice and as I listen to it because it so very strong inside of me as He allows me to get it togather the way He bring it to me. From God to the children of My world and to All of those whom are unsaved, backsliders and to those whom don't believe in Me and have taken there stand in thinking that I'm not listening to them and say "there is No God". I'm here to share with you to let you know that I've heard every word that You've shared with one another in that had been spoken by you,rather it been behind closed doors or has been in publicly spoken by you and among those whom are your friends as well.Just know thid one thing for sure "I Will Be Coming back" upon the earth, For I have cried out unto the earth from the time before the earth was formed and after it was formed as I had began to have it All things before You was born I knew ahead of time all about you. But as times of old till in today's time "You people refused Me and have Never listened then and now You stiff-necked people. "When My Kingdom does come down upon You then You will believe in Me. But at that moment it will to late for you and then You will Not be worthy of All of My Love and blessings" that already have been handed out unto My people whom have that devoted love in My love as we are intertwined in each of them and have achieved many things that's beyond them in each of those countless of lives that's in the stars of heaven.But, as for now You still have time to accept, trust, and admit to youself that You believe and have come unto Me, in having been cleansed which brings You to me as You have been baptized out among the disciples to know Your truths as You are witnessing it before Me.For I will know that truth as it is proclaimed and have seen it in Me as it is written in the Book of Life for then it shows Me whom are truly My children of God that has set one's devotions deeply in My love in one's own heart. When that time comes to to divide the world in that great hour only I know when it will be done but the worls will know it's come upon them at that moment in time, and the rest will know it too.YOU MUST BE READY AND PREPARD IN THAT COMING OF ME! ARE YOU READY FOR ME? For I want you to live forever in My kingdom throught out All eternity. My " Father Elohim" ( God of the Fathers) has sent Me upon the earth so I could be upon the earth so I can take away All of Your sins in order for You being cleansed to white as snow, as purity within You living in My kingdom.I've seen YOU playing on Me with Your stubborn stiff-necks people not really wanting what I have for YOU.Do You think there is NOT a place to which I can send YOU other than in the Kingdom,Your sadly mistaken in NOT believing for YOU have trshed My viel and have put it to shame on which I've had to turn away from You crying with My tears as if a bad rocky winds has blownin very badly within that tremendous tremulous storms as a oceanography can muster in life form that floods My soul as a spirit-being upon the earth of which it hurts Me deeply within My self. I knew that YOU have NOT known Me or even taken time out to pray within YOURSELF as well. I've prayed for You in that day long ago place where I had met My disciples and hath prayed for You and the world. I was utterly grieved for My time was very short on the earth of which it was nealy at an end for Me but My soul was crushed in deep agony because of You in turn I've ben able to bring My glory unto You and have truly shared it with everyone , every place around the earth in today's times. Just as times past whom have sat with Me as You do today in listening to My every Word for You knowing My kigdom in have shared with everyone about the eternal home in glory in which has been already prepared for You. Some have gladly wanting more of Me and willing to go through more of what I've said unto You that shows others what is to be expected of it in one anothers life in waiting for the entering in for the new Jerusalem to apprear in that moment in time, others rejected Me but they think they are part of Me as My disciples yet they are NOT they are LIARS of the darken world. I've already done what My Father has asked Me to doand have gien it All to YOU. As many have always kept My prayer in side of Yourself it is known unto My Father for YOU have kept My Word of truths and kept them inside of yourself and believed them went to the world with the great commission which had been given You in My authroity in bringing the loast unto Me, in baptising them by the Father, Son...Jesus and unto the Holy Ghost in teaching it to those people of the earth.In turn You have gien Me the glory as I've given it back upon YOU. In which You had been given gifts in being united in Me for I have kept as I have guardedm protected, from all things that has kept You from distruction in keeping You safeand Not be lost as some of You are in the world, for You have joy that has filled you in troubled times instead of weeping You worshipped Me. But to the some whom hate me as will Never belong to Me.For they love that darkened kingdom and will Not ever join Me.For My world is always pure and holy and No evil can enter in it but only I will see those in that destrction of which they lived on the old earth, evil times will be even greater and as stronger as the time gets stronger. I will keep My people from All harms way as I prepare to come and to get and behold All of those whom are mine, in which You know as I are intertwined as One. Just as I have ALL the love as we do for one another as I love My Father as well. Remember this will be someone whom will have choice in whom will have life in the eternal kingdom or they will have death of the tormented kingdom which is very judgemental of disgrace in confinement for ALL of the eternity. My own love has given YOU which will last forever in My kingdom where that light NEVER darkens in this place. Jesus.

As each of You have read this now, You see why it made me cry and praying unto God to have mercy upon all of those whom are lost in this world to have in what He has to offer them in the life here after ones death. It just broken me into tiny pieces in hearing it ! But yet on the other hands we will have such a beautiful place as our home in His eternal kingdom for our eternity. What a vast difference it has to show for itself as it already been shown unto us in the word of God. In that time of which is coming upon this erth that it can be said in some many words right here, right now! It's going to be just we we've seen on T.V bUT more total complete destruction that ain't going to be pretty!Oh how this nation will be crushed beyond compared in that is going to be incomprehensible beyond anyones imagination beyond that seeing it would be in a state of twilight zone in seeing that total destrustion unless they had been in a war zone that's brought it's destructive powers as they can only know it within themselves at that moment in time. Those that have been there will know what to do in helping others at that time.But be aware that's when our goverment will induce the martical laws unto all people of this nation. What a sad secerino that is but it's the truth. I'm glad to hear what believers whom has been saved will be having during those times and being in the heavens will be a total worship and teaching like we've never heard before coming from our Master and Savior, whom is the King of Kings and Lord of Lord whom is our host at the mater's dinning table at such a feast like we've never had before.

In Need Of Prayer

Hello I would Like to ask everyone to keep in Me in Your Prayers Please. I haven't been feeling very well these past couple of days, it's because of my thryroid being way off balance and it does cause swelling in my body from head to my feet. Plus I can't sleep well at night and often times during the day as well. My sleep patterns are off and way off time than my usal times for rest. My colosteral medicines are being changed as well. I want to thank Each of You whom is praying for me. I do appreacite them as You do in the way as I'm doing in keeping all prayers uplifted as well. This is why I haven't been on so much right now since this is being going on with me. Catcmo2006

My Love

My Love : "My Love was shown to You when they placed each nail in My hands and feet for each wound represented the depths of My love for mans sins. I came as a Merciful Savior whom died for All of Your sins, You are called to accept Your sufferings for the more You accept Your sufferings the more You come to understand the very depth of My Own love for You. The people , My Beloved children, each new day of Your own life should reflect , My passion for it will be eternal life that You will be with Me Your risen Savior Jesus Christ. Each day You are to pick up Your cross and follow Me for their is not one day where You do not share in some moment of My own Passion." Signed; Jesus Christ .

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:Acts 1:3

Our Lord told the disciples the work they were to do. The apostles met together at Jerusalem; Christ having ordered them not to depart thence, but to wait for the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. This would be a baptism by the Holy Ghost, giving them power to work miracles, and enlightening and sanctifying their souls. This confirms the Divine promise, and encourages us to depend upon it, that we have heard it from Christ; for in Him all the promises of God are yea and amen. (Ac 1:6-11)

And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:Acts 14:15

All things are possible to those that believe. When we have faith, that most precious gift of God, we shall be delivered from the spiritual helplessness in which we were born, and from the dominion of sinful habits since formed; we shall be made able to stand upright and walk cheerfully in the ways of the Lord. When Christ, the Son of God, appeared in the likeness of men, and did many miracles, men were so far from doing sacrifice to him, that they made him a sacrifice to their pride

and malice; but Paul and Barnabas, upon their working one miracle, were treated as gods. The same power of the god of this world, which closes the carnal mind against truth, makes errors and mistakes find easy admission. We do not learn that they rent their clothes when the people spake of stoning them; but when they spake of worshipping them; they could not bear it, being more concerned for God's honour than their own. God's truth needs not the services of man's falsehood. The servants of God

might easily obtain undue honours if they would wink at men's errors and vices; but they must dread and detest such respect more than any reproach. When the apostles preached to the Jews, who hated idolatry, they had only to preach the grace of God in Christ; but when they had to do with the Gentiles, they must set right their mistakes in natural religion. Compare their conduct and declaration with the false opinions of those who think the worship of a God, under any name, or in any manner, is

equally acceptable to the Lord Almighty. The most powerful arguments, the most earnest and affectionate addresses, even with miracles, are scarcely enough to keep men from absurdities and abominations; much less can they, without special grace, turn the hearts of sinners to God and to holiness. (Ac 14:19-28)

This is the Proof we All need to know He's with us in Our spirits : 36And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

40And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

41And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

42And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

43And he took it, and did eat before them.Luke 24:36-43

Jesus appeared in a miraculous manner, assuring the disciples of his peace, though they had so lately forsaken him, and promising spiritual peace with every blessing. Many troublesome thoughts which disquiet our minds, rise from mistakes concerning Christ. All the troublesome thoughts which rise in our hearts at any time, are known to the Lord Jesus, and are displeasing to him. He spake with them on their unreasonable unbelief. Nothing had passed but what was foretold by the

prophets, and necessary for the salvation of sinners. And now all men should be taught the nature and necessity of repentance, in order to the forgiveness of their sins. And these blessings were to be sought for, by faith in the name of Jesus. Christ by his Spirit works on the minds of men. Even good men need to have their understandings opened. But that we may have right thoughts of Christ, there needs no more than to be made to understand the Scriptures. (Lu

24:50-53)

The bottom line for us to know he's right beside us at anytime and any place where ever we may be at any given moment . Old Man Vs. New Man In The Coming New Year 2007

The Old Man Vs. New Man In The Coming New Year 2007 : Which Do We Perfer? I couldn't help but to think about the persons that are in and around my own life today. I have loads of people that are in the worldly ways , and they do practice them very heavily of which I really don't do or really prefer being around me at all. But thank God they know how we feel about it in our home and they "don't" bring in our home at all, or have those character flaws in which they practice some of those things such as addictions of which they have in their own lives. They may not see it in ones own life like other's do,even though that others just don't do them at all because they have had a profound experience in our lives and our preferences are the same in this home . We know how it had effected us in in our old man ways that has produced new man inside of one self of which we highly regard in our inner most being. In turn those people are re-gardful to what has been said by the head of our home whom is the headship of it as well. He espects all of the to comform to what has been laid before each of them in every aspect of his life and mine as well being his wife in our home.

Must A Man Be Buried To Live?

Must a man be buried to live? It sounds like the most absurd question ever asked. Never does being buried carry the slightest connotation of life. In fact, nothing could be more terrifying than being buried alive. When an earthquake hits and demolishes buildings, thousands can experience the awful fate of being buried alive; buried under a mound of concrete, iron, and wood, the air filled with so much debris that it is impossible to breathe. One young lady who was buried under the debris of her own home in the Izmit, Turkey earthquake of August 17, 1999 said, "each minute was like a year." Time, August 30, 1999, "Buried Alive." Only one who experienced such an awful fate could understand. Each tick of the second hand would seem like days on end as a person was pinned between the remains of their own home. Thousands in Turkey, alone, suffered death at the hands of the merciless earthquake, but must a man be buried to live? The survivors and relatives would answer a resounding NO! A man must be rescued to live; but Jesus had something else to say, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." John 12:24, 25. Jesus said that if a kernel of wheat were to bring forth fruit it had to die. Then He brings the illustration even closer and says that if we love our life, we will lose it and if we hate our life, we will gain it. Jesus said that in order to live, we had to die! What did Jesus mean? It sounds like an oxymoron. If it is true that a man must die to live, then must a man be buried to live, as well?

You Must Die

"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, and the gospel's, will save it." Mark 8:35. Jesus clearly said that if we are going to attempt to preserve our lives, we will wind up losing our life in the end. It is only those who are willing to lose their life for Jesus and the gospel that will, in the end, save their life. Jesus said that if we are to live, we must die! By looking at the entire context, it helps to understand exactly what He meant. "When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, 'Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?'" Mark 8:34-36. In order to follow Jesus a person must deny himself, lift up his cross, and lose his life. If a person does not do these things he may end up gaining the entire world, owning businesses, corporations, houses and lands, but still be lost. The importance and necessity of dying is a very common illustration that is used repeatedly throughout the Scriptures, but what does it mean?

There is a part of each one of us that must die, and if this does not die, we will be among those who may gain the entire world, but in the end lose their own soul. "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. For to be carnally minded is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God." Romans 8:6-8. The carnal or fleshly nature is at enmity with God, and if we continue to retain this wicked nature we will not be able to please God. This carnal mind is our natural mind, the infirmities that are common to all humanity. There is, in human nature, a hereditary tendency toward sin. Writing of the struggle of the natural mind, Paul said, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice." Romans 7:18, 19. There is a struggle that goes on deep inside the heart and mind of every human being. A struggle between the natural, carnal elements of human nature and the Holy Spirit striving upon the heart of man. The natural desires, feelings, etc. are in conflict with God's Word, for naturally a person is full of selfishness and pride. Each of us has been born into this world of sin and sorrow. We are descendants of Adam, and with our lineage to Adam comes the weaknesses and the hereditary tendencies to sin. Through our birth, we become citizens of the kingdom of this world. I was born in the United States of America. I am a citizen of the United States, and I didn't have to do anything to become a citizen of this country. I was born here, by default I am a citizen. I have friends, on the other hand, that are now citizens of the United States, but it wasn't easy. They had to go through a lot of work, effort, and education in order to become a citizen of the United States. If I desired to become a citizen of another country, I likewise would have to go through all the requirements to become a citizen of that country. It is the same way with the kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world. We are all born into the kingdom of this world, we do not have to do anything to become citizens, we are so by default. Since we are citizens of the kingdom of this world, all have fallen into sin. "As it is written: 'There is none righteous, no, not one; …' for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:10, 23. Because all have been born into the miserable kingdom of this world, all have fallen short, all have sinned, and there is not one who is righteous. Each one has inherited and developed to one degree or another, a character with tendencies to sin. Everyone is in a hopeless situation. "Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!" Job 14:4. All have become unclean through the defilement of sin, and it is absolutely impossible for anyone of us to bring something clean out of the unclean vessels that each has become. A change must happen. Something outside of ourselves must take place in order for us to become citizens of the kingdom of God.

The change that is necessary in order to become a part of God's kingdom, is death. A person seeking a change of citizenship must, in most cases, renounce his allegiance to his former country. So likewise, our allegiance to the kingdom of darkness must be renounced and a change must occur. In order for that change to occur, we must die. We must die to our old sinful natures. "Therefore brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but, if by the Spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God." Romans 8:12-14. Through the Holy Spirit, deeds of the body (the old, sinful nature) must be put to death. Only as we thus die, shall we live. We must not live according to the flesh, for all who live according to the flesh will die (not just the first, earthly death, but the dreadful second death, Revelation 20:14.) What are the deeds of the flesh? "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts ofwrath,pharmakeia(Sorcery,Enchantment by Durgs, or Magic,All are an Abominations God hates), Tarot cars, Ouija boards, Satanic rituals, crystal balls, magic books, divination instruments, Idols of which is in those things of all occults practices, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21. The term "flesh" in the Bible is not just the physical flesh, bones, and blood, but is the fleshly, carnal nature. Simply stated, the works of the flesh are disobedience to God's Ten-Commandment Law. It is this that must die. Our old nature of disobedience to God must be put to death. Without this death to sin and self, we have not become a part of God's kingdom; we are still "aliens from the commonwealth of Israel." Ephesians 2:12.

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20. Paul had the experience of dying to his old sinful habits. He likened it to a death by crucifixion. His sins, his old fleshly desires, his sinful habits and tendencies were hung upon the cross, but that did not mean that he was physically dead. For some religions it is the height of spiritual attainment to basically kill yourself, but that is not the crucifixion and death that the Bible is talking about. It is a death to our sins and a new life in God. Not only does a person need to die to their old way of life, but they must also live through Christ. Paul said that since He is dead, it is now Christ living through him. He is following the example of our Lord. In whatever situation he found himself in, he chose to do what Christ would do. "Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God." Romans 6:11-13. The Christian is forbidden to be an instrument of unrighteousness, and in order to be delivered from that, he must be dead to sin and alive to God. The sin, with all its clamors, is to be crucified, while Christ's life of obedience is to be implanted in us. "For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 3:3.

Not only must a person die to live, but also this is an experience that must occur everyday. "I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily." "Then He said to them all, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.'" I Corinthians 15:31; Luke 9:23. Salvation and death to our old sinful natures is not a once in a lifetime decision.Every day a recommitment and rededication to the Lord must occur. If this does not happen, we are not truly following the Lord, for Jesus said, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." If we don't make the decision every day, we are lagging behind in the dust, and it will take an even greater effort to catch up. As Daniel did in the courts of Babylon, so must we. "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself," Daniel 1:8. Daniel made the choice and the decision to follow the Lord, and so must each one whom desires to change loyalties from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light. We must say as did Paul, "I die daily."

You Must be Buried

Knowing that we must die, the question naturally rises, must we be buried as well? Certainly if we die, no one would want an unburied carcass of sins hanging around. Is there some way in which our old, sinful nature is buried? "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we, who died to sin, live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin." Romans 6:1-7. Indeed, there is a way that our old, sinful way of life is buried. Baptism is the ceremony of the new covenant that represents the burial of our sins. Baptism actually represents the entire process of death, burial and resurrection. As a person is baptized, he is baptized into Jesus' death. Not only is he showing his faith in Jesus death for him, but he is also pledging to experience that death to sin. (vs. 2) As Christ was buried in the tomb, so the sinner's sins are buried in the watery grave of baptism. (vs. 4) So as Christ was raised from the grave, as a person rises from the waters of baptism, he is to walk in the newness of life. (vs. 4) Baptism is the ceremony by which a person expresses their faith in the amazing gift that God has given to mankind through His Son, and by which he pledges to experience the death to sin, the burial of sin, and the resurrection to new life. "Buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead." Colossians 2:12.

Baptism--how?

If a man is going to die and then be buried to live, he needs to know what the correct method of burial is. There are many different methods that men use and claim it to be baptism. There is sprinkling, pouring, immersion, triple immersion, and even water-less baptism. How can we tell which is the Biblical method of baptism?

"Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized." John 3:23. The Scriptures record that John was baptizing in Aenon because there was much water there. Do you need "much water" to sprinkle someone? No. Do you even need "much water" to use the pour method of baptism? No, a pitcher of water will suffice. Do you need "much water" to immerse? Yes, you cannot immerse even one person unless you have an ample supply of water. It definitely takes "much water" to baptize by immersion.

"And all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins." Mark 1:5. Notice where the people were baptized--it was IN the Jordan River. Not on the side of it, not on its banks, but actually in it. Is it necessary to be IN the river in order to sprinkle? No. Is it necessary to be IN the river to pour? Not really. Is it necessary to be IN the river to immerse? Absolutely! You cannot immerse a person if you are not, in reality, IN the river.

"Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, 'See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?' Then Philip said, 'If you believe with all your heart, you may.' And he answered and said, 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.' So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and he baptized him. Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away," Acts 8:36-39. They both went down into the water and then they both came back up out of the water. Once again, it was not something that they did along side the road. The only method of baptism that this could possibly be is immersion. In neither sprinkling nor pouring do either the person being baptized or the person baptizing go down into the water. It is only in immersion that this occurs. Clearly, the Biblical method of baptism is immersion. The English word baptize actually comes from the Greek word, baptidzo. Baptidzo simply means "dip, immerse." A Shorter Lexicon of the Greek New Testament, Gingrich & Danker. When the translators came to that word, they realized that they had never before been dipped and so they conveniently transliterated the word, that is, they just gave it English letters and made it an English word. Thus the very meaning of the word "baptism" is immersion. How much clearer our English reading would be if the translators would have translated it directly. It would read, "Now John also was immersing… because there was much water there" "and were all immersed by him in the River Jordan" "And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and he immersed him." As we put the actual meaning of the word into the verses, it becomes obvious that the Biblical baptism is not sprinkling or pouring, or any other method but immersion. Neither pouring nor sprinkling could have the significance that immersion does. Baptism shows our faith in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and it also testifies of our death and burial to sin and our resurrection to a new life. Only immersion carries that deep significance. As a person goes down into the waters of baptism they are showing that they are dying to sin. When the person is laid underneath the waters, it represents the burial of sin, and then when a person comes up out of the water it typifies their resurrection to a new life. Sprinkling is little more than a shower. It has no significance of death to sin, burial, or resurrection. Both sprinkling and pouring destroy the beautiful symbolism given us through baptism. According to God's Word, the only correct method of baptism is immersion.

Baptism--when?

Having seen that a person must be baptized by immersion, the next question that needs to be answered is when can a person be baptized? There are several things that must take place prior to baptism. If these experiences do not take place before baptism, the Biblical example is not being followed.

"Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" Acts 2:38. When the people were convicted of the truth that Jesus was indeed the Son of God, the promised Messiah, they asked, "What shall we do?" Acts 2:37. In answer to their question, Peter says, "Repent." The first step is given--repentance. They were not to be baptized and then repent. Repentance came first. So today, repentance must precede baptism. It was so important that repentance accompany baptism, that John's baptism was referred to as, "the baptism of repentance." (See Mark 1:4) All who came to John to be baptized knew that repentance for their sins had to come first. Really, if repentance does not precede baptism, the importance of baptism will not be understood. There must be the conviction that we are guilty sinners. As the listeners upon the day of Pentecost, a person must be "cut to the heart." (Acts 2:37.) There must be deep, heartbreaking guilt that our sins put to death the only begotten Son of God. "Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner,… For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter." II Corinthians 7:9, 11. The Corinthian church had a true sorrow that was not to be repented of. Repentance literally means "a change of mind." (A Shorter Lexicon of the Greek New Testament, Gingrich & Danker.) The necessary repentance before baptism is a sorrow for our sins, realizing that they crucified our beloved Savior, but also a change in our mind to do the works of God. Some, thinking that baptism of itself has power to save a person, will be baptized with no remorse for their sins whatsoever, and think that in so doing they are securing a title to the kingdom of God. Nothing could be farther from the truth! If repentance does not precede baptism, it is valueless.

"He who believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:16. Jesus himself states that belief also must come before baptism. In John the Baptist's day, they did not know who they were to believe in, (Acts 19:4) but now, we know exactly whom we must believe in. Now Before baptism, it is necessary to say with the Ethiopian eunuch, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." Acts 8:37. A person must believe that Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah, that He is the One in whom their sins can be forgiven. We must realize that not only was Jesus a good man and great teacher, but that He is the only way that we can be saved. "Nor is there salvation in any other," Acts 4:12. We must know as did Peter, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." John 6:68, 69. Christ must become everything to us. We must believe that He is the only way through which our sins can be forgiven, the only way through which our great and many sins can be thrown into the depths of the sea. We must believe that He alone is our only hope and ground of eternal life. Before a person is baptized, he must truly believe on Jesus, the only begotten Son of God.

"'Go ye therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.' Amen." Matthew 28:19, 20. Jesus, in His Great Commission given to the disciples and to all believers, states that they are to make disciples and then baptize them. A person is not to be baptized until they have become a disciple of Jesus. What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? Jesus explained himself by saying, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you." A person needs to receive instruction on the gospel and the many things that Jesus taught. A person needs to have some time to become acquainted and familiar with the truths that Jesus taught before making the commitment of baptism. Baptism is similar to marriage. I would never encourage anyone to get married on the spur of the moment or on the impulse of emotion alone. Yet there are thousands who are baptized while on an emotional high, and they don't realize the commitment that they are making. Jesus said that a person should count the cost of the step that he is taking. "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it--lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all who see it begin to mock him. Saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." Luke 14:17-33. Jesus was very clear that a person must realize the decision that he is making before making the step. The conditions are plain and simple; "Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." Luke 14:33. We must be willing to do whatever the Lord asks of us. We must be willing to forsake everything, because that is exactly what baptism symbolizes. It is a death and burial of our sins and a resurrection to newness of life. Our old sinful way of life must be buried in the watery grave of baptism. Anyone who desires to follow their Lord all of the way into baptism must be willing to count the cost and choose to follow the Lord wherever He asks.

"But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, 'Brood of vipers! Who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance," Matthew 3:7, 8. John the Baptist refused to baptize some individuals who came to him for baptism! Some preachers will baptize anyone who desires baptism, but that is not following the example of John the Baptist. Do you think that a preacher should conduct a funeral for someone who is still alive? How would you like it if you were the person who was being buried alive? We would all agree that a live person should NOT be buried, but what about in baptism? Baptism is a funeral service. It is a resurrection service as well, but the funeral comes first. The "body of sin" (Romans 6:6) is dead and buried. What is the body of sin? The body of sin is, of course, the old habits and sinful way of life. That is why Paul, later on in the chapter, says, "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body." Romans 6:12. If a person has been buried and their sins are dead--sin is not to reign! It is not to continue to be practiced. When you conduct a funeral, the dead body is not to be exhumed. (People get arrested for that.) Since a baptism is a funeral when the sins and the old sinful way of life are buried, would it be right to bury a person who is still living in their old sinful way of life? NO! It would be burying someone alive! (If you bury someone alive in our world today, you will be arrested for murder; but many preachers are spiritually guilty of this very crime!) If a person comes desiring baptism and is carrying a flask of liquor, would it be wise to baptize him? No! That is the works of the flesh that is buried at baptism. "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,… drunkenness,… those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21. That is why John the Baptist refused to baptize some of the Pharisees and Sadducees, they were not showing, by their lives, that they were dead to their old sinful way of life. John the Baptist said, "Bring forth fruits worthy of repentance" Matthew 3:8. A person must show by their life that they have indeed accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and that they are willing to follow Him no matter what. When a person has had a true conversion, it becomes obvious to all around that a change has taken place. The new birth must occur before a person is baptized, just like the love between two individuals must precede the wedding, not the other way around. A person must show that he is no longer carnally minded, but now he is spiritually minded. (Romans 8:6.)

While it is true that an individual must show by his life that he has accepted Jesus, that does not mean that a person must be perfect before he can be baptized. If that were the case, no one would end up being baptized, and Jesus' final commission would never be fulfilled. Three thousand were baptized and added to the church on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:41, 47.) They had given evidence in their life that they accepted Jesus as their Lord and were going to follow Him, but they still were not perfect. We know that they were not perfect because in just a little while, problems arose in the church. There was complaining and bitter feelings over supposed favoritism. (See Acts 6:1.) Obviously, they were not perfect or they would not have had this problem. Although they had chosen to follow Jesus all of the way and had given evidence of conversion in their lives, they still had trials and temptations, and they still fell. They were striving to follow Jesus all of the way and that is what the Lord asks of us.

You may be asking, "When is baptism to take place?" We need to look to see if it is acceptable to baptize babies. We have seen that there are four things which the Bible teaches that must take place before baptism: 1) repentance, 2) belief, 3) instruction, and 4) obedience. Can a baby repent for its sins? Can a baby believe in Jesus as its only hope of eternal salvation? Can a baby be taught to observe all that the Lord has commanded? Can a baby obey the Law and teaching of Jesus? The obvious answer to all of these questions is, no. A person must be of an age to understand the importance and the meaning of baptism before he takes the important step of baptism. "Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil," Deuteronomy 1:39. A child must come to an age of accountability before he makes the necessary step of baptism. He must have knowledge of good and evil. While still too young to understand the difference, God accepts his childlike devotion and he will not be held accountable until he reaches the age of accountability, which occurs at different ages for different children. A person must repent, believe, be instructed and obey before he is ready to make the commitment and decision of baptism.

Baptism--why?

It is argued by some that all that is necessary is baptism by the Spirit, that water baptism is of no value anymore. Others are afraid of water and cringe at the thought of being submersed in it. Humanity can come up with many different reasons to avoid baptism, but in reality they are all excuses. God has given us a plain command in His Word. The question is whether or not we are going to obey and follow His plain command.

"Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, 'I have need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?' But Jesus answered and said to him, 'Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.' Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'" Matthew 3:13-17. Jesus Himself came to the River Jordan and was baptized. Why was Jesus baptized? There was certainly no need for His sins to be washed away, for He had no sins, yet He came to John and insisted upon being baptized. John the Baptist, realizing whom it was who was requesting baptism, balked at the thought. (I am sure that I would too.) John knew that here was his Creator and King, and He was desiring to be baptized by him, a lowly sinner! Jesus insisted that he be baptized saying, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." It was fulfilling all righteousness for Jesus to be baptized. Why was it so essential that Jesus be baptized? So that He could give us an example to follow. "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you." "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:" John 13:15; I Peter 2:21. Jesus was baptized, not because He needed to be baptized, but so that He could demonstrate to us just how important this ceremony is. If Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, condescended to the waters of baptism, should we hesitate to take that important step?

"Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, 'Men and brethren, what shall we do?'" Acts 2:37. When the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost, there was a great deal of heart searching that went on. Peter delivered a powerful sermon in which he showed that the Jewish nation was guilty of the blood of the Son of God. As he was bringing the appeal home to the hearts of the hearers, a most important question escaped from their lips. As they saw themselves sinners in need of Christ, they asked, "what shall we do?" The Holy Spirit was pressing conviction strongly upon their hearts, and their earnest desire was to know what to do to be right with God. The answer from Peter came, plain clear and simple, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38. Those who were convicted and desiring to follow the Lord were given definite directions. They were to repent of their sins and then to follow their Lord into the waters of baptism. Peter did not say that it was an option or a good idea, it was essential. If they were going to repent and follow their Lord, they must take their public stand for Him by baptism. So today, as souls are seeing the goodness of God and what it is that He asks of them, they must make a public commitment, through baptism, to follow the Lord. This should not be something that is considered a hard, grievous requirement. If we truly love the Lord it will not be hard. Just as it is not hard to marry someone whom you truly love, so it is not hard to publicly pledge our fidelity to the Lord through baptism. What must we do? Repent and be baptized.

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:16. Jesus, in some of the last words that He spoke before ascending to heaven, makes a plain, straightforward statement of who will be saved. It is those who 1) believe and 2) are baptized. There are two essential elements. One without the other will not save a person. The belief must come first, belief in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the only One through whom we can be saved. Belief that He has taken our sins upon Him and if we repent and confess He will wash away our many and terrible sins. True belief will always lead to something else, though. True belief will lead to publicly stating our belief through baptism. Thus true belief comes first, but then it is followed by baptism. There are, of course, cases in which a person cannot be baptized, but the Lord accepts their devotion; for example, the thief on the cross. He accepted Jesus in the twilight of his life. He only had a few hours left when he made the confession, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." Luke 23:42. It was an impossibility for him to come down from the cross on which he was hanging and be baptized, so the Lord accepted his sincerity of heart, knowing that if he had the opportunity to be baptized, then he would have. All must be baptized who have accepted Jesus and are able to be baptized by immersion. There are some cases in which I have been familiar that because of paralysis or deathly physical affliction a person could not be baptized. They desired to, but it had become impossibility through their physical situation. God looks at those cases and weighs the heart and does not hold a person accountable, but if a person is fully able and refuses to be baptized, they are refusing Jesus Himself.

Jesus made perhaps the strongest statement of all about baptism in His night interview with Nicodemus. "Jesus answered, 'Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.'" John 3:5. There is a new birth that each and every person who is saved must experience. "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3. If a person is not born again, he will not be saved. As we have already studied, baptism is a representation of this new birth experience; and if a person does not follow through with the outward sign of the new birth, he will not be saved. "Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." John 3:5. An individual must be born of water in order to enter God's kingdom. What is this new birth of water? It is the waters of baptism, which symbolizes the new birth. If a person has the opportunity to be baptized and refuses (or procrastinates until it is too late), he CANNOT enter the kingdom of God. Is baptism important? Is it necessary? There could be nothing more important and necessary than a true baptism accompanied by the inward experience. Must a man be buried to live? Absolutely, that is the only way that he will see life!

While I was in the Philippines a pastor told me of a unique baptism that he had administered. There was a lady who had started studying the Bible and it had wrought a total change in her life. This woman had been involved in a life of crime before her conversion, but she was now making the decision to surrender to Jesus. She had been involved with the rebels. In the Philippines, there are guerilla outpost camps that are in rebellion to the government of the Philippines. Generally speaking, they are communist and are striving to see the present government overthrown and a communist government set up. There are frequent clashes between the Philippine Army and the National People's Army (commonly known as the "rebels"). The National People's Army (NPA) is known for its violence and taking of hostages. This woman, who had started studying the Bible, was not only involved with the NPA, but she was a commander in the NPA! Her life had indeed been a life of crime in a rebellious military atmosphere, but she was now making the decision to follow Jesus all of the way. She knew that she would have to surrender to the Philippine Army and discontinue her rebellious military career. There was one condition that she had--she wanted to surrender to Jesus before surrendering to the Philippine Army. This was arranged and my pastor friend agreed to baptize her so that she could publicly surrender to Jesus. The Philippine Army was going to take no chances, though. They surrounded the site for the baptism with jeep loads full of soldiers to make sure that this high profile rebel would not escape. As soon as she was baptized and surrendered to Jesus, she peacefully surrendered to the Philippine Army. How important is baptism? This once rebel leader knew how important baptism was. Her one qualification was that she take her public stand for her faith before she was captured. How that faith and submission is needed in the lives of many Christians here today in our peaceful lands.

What Hinders You?

Do you desire to live? There is only one way that you can live eternally with Christ Jesus--you must be buried. The Lord has done everything possible that you might be saved. Then He has just set a few simple prerequisites for us. Will your take your stand on the Lord's side? Have you made your stand for Jesus as the woman in the Philippines did? Is the Lord speaking to you, convicting you of your need to make a deeper commitment to Him--even the commitment of baptism? There was an incident that happened nearly two thousand years ago, but its lesson is still for us today. Philip, the evangelist, had been working mightily for the Lord in Samaria, but the Lord directed him to a very out of the way place. He did not know why the Lord was leading him there, but he willingly followed. As he was traveling he came to a chariot in which was riding a high ranking official from the kingdom of Ethiopia. This man earnestly desired light and was pouring over the Scriptures for more understanding. (What everyone who desires to have more light and knowledge should do.) "Then Philip opened his mouth and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him." Acts 8:35. The Lord had directed Philip to this honest man who was seeking for light in order that he might show him the more perfect way--that he might teach Jesus and Him crucified. As Philip was teaching, light and understanding dawned on this noble man's mind. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him." Acts 8:36-38. Oh, that there were thousands of souls like the honest Ethiopian. When he learned the truth from the Word of God, he did not make excuses. He said, "What hinders me from being baptized?" What hinders you, Friend, from being baptized? Do you believe with all your heart that Jesus is the Messiah and understand the meaning for your life? Have you counted the cost and decided that it is better to lose the entire world than to lose Jesus?

There was a young lady in the Philippines whom I baptized. I will never forget her testimony. She had been working at a place that required her to break God's holy Law. As we studied, she decided that even if she had to lose her job, she was willing, in order to follow Jesus. She said that she may have to lose her job for taking her stand, but it was better to lose a job than to lose Christ. Oh, how I wish that there were more like her. She was willing to lose everything rather than to lose Jesus. She believed with all of her heart that Jesus was the Son of God and she was going to follow Him no matter what. Do you believe that? Are you willing to follow Jesus as she was, even if it costs you your job, your friends, your family, your house, your car, your anything? Do you truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Or maybe you have already been baptized by immersion before (anything else is not baptism at all,) but have had a new conversion and would like to make a public recommitment. Frequently couples renew their marriage vows, and there is nothing wrong with renewing your commitment to Jesus to follow Him no matter what. When Paul met those who were learning more and having a new conversion, he re-baptized them. (Acts 19:1-6.) Your eternal destiny is at stake. Don't you want to be on the safe side of eternity? Will you make that decision right now, to begin preparing for the most wonderful public commitment of baptism? Don't wait until it is too late. Don't, like Agrippa, be almost persuaded. (Acts 26:28.) For although he was almost persuaded, he was completely lost. Friend, don't make that dreadful mistake. "And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord." Acts 22:16

Some of this came to me from a pastor friend of ours and I thought it would help for those folk's whom had No idea of what needed to be taken place in a person's life from the old life to become a brand new person in Jesus Christ in walking in all of their ways and living it, walking it and yet bringing other's home as well. May this touch your life in having a deep pentrating experience that so profound to which You will come out of darkness that surrounds you in become a new person in a new man in All of your ways. We will keep You in our prayers until the change has taken place in Your life today!

Prayer of Manassheh : O Lord, Almighty God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of their righteous seed; who hast made heaven and earth, with all the ornament thereof; who hast bound the sea by the word of thy commandment; who hast shut up the deep, and sealed it by thy terrible and glorious name; whom all men fear, and tremble before thy power; for the majesty of thy glory cannot be borne, and thine angry threatening toward sinners is importable: but thy merciful promise is unmeasurable and unsearchable; for thou art the most high Lord, of great compassion, longsuffering, very merciful, and repentest of the evils of men. Thou, O Lord, according to thy great goodness hast promised repentance and forgiveness to them that have sinned against thee: and of thine infinite mercies hast appointed repentance unto sinners, that they may be saved. Thou therefore, O Lord, that art the God of the just, hast not appointed repentance to the just, as to Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, which have not sinned against thee; but thou hast appointed repentance unto me that am a sinner: for I have sinned above the number of the sands of the sea. My transgressions, O Lord, are multiplied: my transgressions are multiplied, and I am not worthy to behold and see the height of heaven for the multitude of mine iniquities. I am bowed down with many iron bands, that I cannot life up mine head, neither have any release: for I have provoked thy wrath, and done evil before thee: I did not thy will, neither kept I thy commandments: I have set up abominations, and have multiplied offences. Now therefore I bow the knee of mine heart, beseeching thee of grace. I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned, and I acknowledge mine iniquities: wherefore, I humbly beseech thee, forgive me, O Lord, forgive me, and destroy me not with mine iniquities. Be not angry with me for ever, by reserving evil for me; neither condemn me to the lower parts of the earth. For thou art the God, even the God of them that repent; and in me thou wilt shew all thy goodness: for thou wilt save me, that am unworthy, according to thy great mercy. Therefore I will praise thee for ever all the days of my life: for all the powers of the heavens do praise thee, and thine is the glory for ever and ever. Amen.[ 2 Chronicles 33:1-20].

The Bottomline: God had placed King Manasseh into such dire strates that there was nothing else he could do but to seek God. Even though Manasseh had been one of Judah's most evil kings, he was forgiven and restored when he recognized his own powerless state and cried out humbly to God for help. God will do No less for each of us today. Sin and failure will ultimately lead us into difficulty circumstances. When this happens, we need to run into God's open and very forgiving arms.
